I refuse the gardisil this years for my daughter....
I also refused to pay for varivax and prevnar 9 years ago. (god it was so expensive!)
I know some vaccine are useful, but I don't think we get that much benefice with all the vaccine available. I prefered a immune system build themselve with bacteria and virus met on our life... but this is my point of you, you could have an other one.Liberty of one finish where liberty of the other one start

Think of that:
In comparison of the number of bacteria and virus we met in our life only few of them give us pathologicals symtoms and visibles signs because the body have the immune system to defend. Yes to build a good system we need to expose it a bit to various thing and let doing the job.
Patty with my 4 kids here, only one of them had antibiotic prescription one time and it was 5 years ago already!
For me, one of the problem with vaccine is the 2 points of view not often compatible. There is the point of view of individual people and there is a social point of view for the good of the majority as an entity. I understand some decision are take for the common and not the individual. But as an individu I don't want some of the social decision!Liberty of one finish where liberty of the other one start

This is a really sensitive and personal topic, and I do believe it can only be discussed if both parties abstain from hyperboles, since all it does is alienate the other side of the debate...
Anyway, can't comment on the state of the vaccination schedules here in Canada, but I do know in the States, a large part of the problem is that too many vaccines are given at once. They give a lot more vaccines to begin with nowadays and they try to fit them into a smaller timeframe and I am of the belief that it can overwhelm certain small bodies.
On top of that, as many of you stated already, I just think we have too many vaccines for everything nowadays being pushed into our faces. Not questioning diseases like polio, measles, whatnot, but those H1N1 and Gardasil and whatever else, yes.

due to allergy issues on both sides, we had to delay vaxxing and make sure the vaxs are given seperatley...
Both DD1 and Ds got chicken pox though garderie due to mothers.....deciding to take their off-spring to "PoxParties" and being exposed for thier convience...so they had leave over the tax-season*
My children and others were exposed since those infected children were then allowed to mingle with their peers....Thanx non-vaxxing mom...shame it backfired and your kids weren't infected and you still had to work.
* the mother bragged to a friend of mine about her plan to take the whole of March off due to her children being sick...eyeroll!.

I have been lucky so far DD has not had antibiotics and DS only twice.
I think we also have to be careful in that pharmeceutical companies can make fortunes off these vaccines and really some diseases are not a threat to the general population.
It's ok to get sick. I also don't like the way the H1N1 business was handled. I think they really tried very hard to put the fear in people for no reason. There are groups of people who are always at risk and do need to be vaccinated but for the most part healthy people can fight off diseases or have just a mild case. I know that for my parents who are 87 there was no question that they get flu shots every year and they did opt to get the H1N1 vaccine which has now been incorporated into the geneal flue shot that they got this year.

So decision time, get the guy to come and look at the freezer(which is working but making intermitant horrible noises) fix it if it's not too expensive(meaning not more than $100) or get a new one or don't have him come and take a chance that it(the noise) will go away.
