    Hey Everyone,

I have a question, what does one coupon per purchase mean. Example Does it mean one coupon per bottle of shampoo if I bought six.. or Does it mean one coupon for all the 6 bottles.. Someone please explain it to me.. cause I am tired of walking in stores and having to argue with a cashier about this...

Is everyone facing this issue or am I the only one.. who gets.. Cashiers or Managers who do not seem to understand the difference in the words.. PER TRANSCATION AND PER PURCHASE.. I HONESLTY THINK PEOPLE WHO WORK IN RETAIL SHOULD BE GIVEN A WORD AND THEIR MEANING TEST BEFORE STARTING THEIR JOBS. OR GO BACK TO SCHOOL.. BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY YOU WERE NOT PAYING ATTENTION IN CLASS.. OR IF YOU HAVE NOT TAKEN BUSINESS/ ECONOMICS AND ACCOUNTING IN HIGH SCHOOL DO NOT WORK AT A RETAIL OR GROCERY STORE.

The statement means to say that you cannot use 3 of those .75 coupons to receive a discount of $2.25 on one product.

Only one of that particular coupon/UPC can be used on the product. You may not use 1 or more of those coupons on one product. You may purchase as many of these products as you like, using only one coupon per item.

    6 bottles of shampoo:
to receive a discount on all 6, you need 6 coupons,
or 3 coupons that say wub2,
or 2 coupons that say wub3,
or 3 coupons that say BOGO. etc.

Unfortunately this is only MY interpreptation of the phrase ' one coupon per purchase' - there are several other interpretations. I believe my interpretation is the most widely accepted. Few cashiers receivee adequate training and feel just as frustrated by their lack of store policy coupon knowledge.

Thank you all for clarifying.. I think its it time now that Safeway recieved a call from me.. about this.. My understanding was the same as everyone's else's who commented on this.. one coupon ber bottle. which means 6 bottles.. equals 6 coupons.. no where does it say in safeway policy that they will not accept more than one coupon in a single transaction. Then to to say to me "Do not tell how to do my job" was a bit off.. I walked away because I did not want to be embarassing my friend that was with me.. but this cashier and the assistant manager I think need a talking to by the DSM.. I have called the manufacturer and clarified this as well, and they also said that the cashier should have honoured the coupon, because they do get their money back from the manufacturer..

It took me ten minutes to read and understand the store coupon policy and I think cashiers should be taught and tested before being put on the till to serve customers.. this save's the hassle and complaints.. coming their way.. Because couponing is part of their traning they should be well aware how to addresss the issues.

Exactly, one per purchase = one per item. Whenever i've gotten grief by a cashier I've pointed at the item and said "this is a purchase" and waved my hands at all my items "this is a transaction" Usually works!

When they give me grief I usually just say that I will make 6 purchases then and everyone else can wait.

It's unfortunate that some 'couponers' out there seem to be suffering from the ' I'm entitled ' virus. Have we forgotten that the 'wording' on coupons is 'subject to interpretation' ? This is not some new rule. We need to keep in mind that regardless of what any of the 'store coupon policies' say, the bottom line, last word, final decision, is ALWAYS up to the store manager! If these retailers do not want our business, then we GO somewhere else. Simple as that, and no amount of name-calling or scene-making, is going to change that. As a cashier, interpreting the wording on coupons, has nothing to do with my level of education, and everything to do with what I am told to do...by my store management. Have a better week.

I was not trying to downgrade anyone.. its just that.. I think it is unfair when someone in front of you is allowed to buy 11 or 18 bottles of same product.. and they let them then when it comes to your turn.. all of a sudden manager has to step in and say.. no can not use them.. How is one shopper different from the other.. explain that to me.. anyways..,. if cooperate rights a coupon policy I think.. every store should follow the same policy.. why leave it up to the store managers to decide who can and can not use coupons... that is just not right.. treat everyone farily.. or talk to head office and change your policy is all I am saying.. no need to cause grief to one customer and let the other one slip away..

Anyways.. so to sum up.. what happened.. I did get a chance to talk to Management and Corperate as well as the manufacture regarding this.. and the final conclusion was that.. the AM was confused.. and like you guys said.. mis interpretted the wordings.. on the coupon.. and yes.. I agree.. and thanks for the advice.. go to another store.. or place where they accept the coupons..
