    Hi all:

During his March Break camp this coming week, five year old DS has a 'crazy hair' day.

His hair is short so that limits what one can do with gel, etc. I offered to cut off half of it and fix it when he got home, but he thought people would laugh.

Anybody know of any colours that can be applied to hair and washed out easily afterwards?

    Thanks in advance!

Does he have blonde hair? Koolaid works well. Also, chalk pastels work well, and its easy to wash them out...

No, his hair is quite dark. I just learned tonight about Kool-Aid, but apparently it' can take a bit to wash out.

Thanks for the ideas! I'm glad I have a boy since I'm kind of anti-glitter.

In fact, for years I've had a great idea for a security device involving glitter. If someone tries to break into your shed, this device would shoot a softball-sized ball of glitter at them. Weeks later, it would still be apparent who tried to break into your property! Everyone know that stuff does NOT come off!

Way better to use spray - that's what my son always has used. We always stock up after Hallowe'en, but use it any time all year.
Should be able to still get it at any dollar store.
    Washes out really easy!

My boy is five, he'd wear a wig for maybe five minutes I think.

Okay, I've had a lot of experience with this and my own hair. I have dark hair almost black. I've found the hairspray stuff works very well, except you have to use a lot of it. This time of year you can get green at the dollarstores. I am assuming he has fairly short hair, so one can should do it.

If you can find the got to be spiker gel, it works really great, you can pick it up in the hair style section of many stores or in the walmart haircutting shop. I picked mine up at Fields. It is like glue though, so it takes a bit of work to get it out of your hair. It will however spike hair up to about four or more inches high and color it. I've had orange, red and blue. I found the red and blue worked the best.

We use the spray in kind-- comes in an aerosol can--like the kind Natalka suggested. Washes out super easy. We buy ours at Halloween at Value Village. Not sure where to buy it this time of year though. I suppose you could try a Value Village...or maybe you could try at a girlie-like store like Ardene or something that specializes in funky accessories (?)...or probably even an SDM or drugstore.

Hot Topic has some awesome stuff.
I get the 'more' permanent dye, and it still washes out after 2 weeks, and they make other versions that wash out quicker, so it should do the trick nicely.
And they have TONS of colours. In sprays and creams. And when I was in there last week, I saw they had some for only $5.

Isn't that store only in the US? And those dyes, like Manic Panic you'd still have to bleach your hair.
Did you see the pool? They flipped the B!tch!

There's one at Square One here and Eaton Centre.
And nope, no bleaching, I did red over dark brown (the permanent), but they make sprays, too.

I ended up getting a spray at Lawtons that worked great - he's a redhead today. Hope it washes out without too much trouble!
