I had the oddest thing happen on Sunday. I wanted to use up the approx. $10.00 that was on 2 SDM GC's. So at SDM I buy one dozen $1.99 eggs, 2 Dempster's Breads @ $1.99 ea and 2 cookies ea @ $1.99
I even watched the amounts on the screen come up as such.
So I had to pay a bit OOP, along with the 2 GC's and then I left.
I don't know what made me check the receipt at home but it was then I saw 1 of the bread went through @ $2.29, and they were identical loaves.
I call the store, ask is there any reason why this would happen?
Nope, she just said to come back for a scop.
So I get back, I have both loaves with me, and as she looks at my receipt she goes " oh, you got eggs, that is why "
Well apparently this is a new-ish thing that SDM is now putting in their flyers.
She showed me the flyer and it shows the items together in the picture, if you buy eggs and bread together, then you can only get 1 of each, the next egg or bread is regular price.
Oh for the love of Pete!! ( and you know I do not like to take Pete's name in vain.)
I was dumbfounded. I asked just to be refunded the second loaf instead. Doesn't she " error" and punch in $1.99 as my return amount?! lol!!
Oh yeah, supervisor to the rescue.
The supervisor told me she has no problem doing multiple transactions for families that eat more than 1 loaf of bread or 1 dozen eggs.
I will not miss SDM much. Now that all my SDM GC's are finally spent, I will not go out of my way to shop there any more.

i see in the flyer what she means. but they should have made that print bigger as well as informed the cashier of that. our cashiers always notify us when that happens.. besides it should be after the 2nd loaf or the 3rd loaf or set of eggs your paying the reg price. not because you bought two of each that makes 3 and 4 the reg. price.

Thanks guys, I agree that these cashiers AND the manager knew nothing about this because when I called first before going back I told them over the phone what I had bought, and the gal on the phone didn't have a clue why.
Of course once the manager came over to override the error in the refund she explained that this was a new thing, so I guess just head's up to you all from here on in.
Check the fine print now in the SDM flyers.

What kind of idiocy is this?? I can see a limit of N on a specific item, but that's where it should stop. There is no reason why they should be combining eggs and bread and changing the price of one based on the number of the other item purchased.

Wow that is ridiculous. I wonder why they would implement something so cheap on HO side??

Actually SDM do this all the time, when they have a group of items listed together with same price, then put a limit for it, that means for this group of item, you only could get that limit. They did that in the past with battery charger and batteries, also did that with tampon and pads, etc.

I just looked at my receipt and noticed the same thing. Wow, I would have never guessed they grouped eggs and bread and all combine to form the limit. It's a little strange IMHO

Wow that is low of them lol. I mean, I know they do that with other things, like when they say Christie Crackers or Cookies $1.99 Limit 4, for example, and you can only buy 4 TOTAL...but to group the bread and eggs together like that is just plain low and obviously verging on deceitful. I didn't shop there this weekend but I very well might have purchased the same things and had the very same thing happen. Wow, I actually spend less at SDM now that the gigantoid Wal-Mart opened very closeby and I can price match. And I hate Wal-Mart SO BAD lol, so that is saying alot haha

I agree! Combining eggs and bread is just silly. They aren't the same brand. If it's say a limit like the above mentioned of 4 Christie cookies, I get that means 4 total, even if different kinds. But the eggs and breads are coming from two different companies all together!

Happy to see that at least it was helpful what I posted. I just figured I was so out of the SDM loop, but now I think sc members will get the word out to anyone ( well larger families really) that this is not fair.
