From my experience, he needs to get back in touch with his workplace to get that T4, just a ROE is not enough. He should have had that T4 the end of Feb, time to get on the employers case.

First he should contact his former employer as they have to have submitted it to CRA and they are obligated by law to provide him with one (BY FEB 29th). How will he get his Income tax, CPP and EI contributions from his ROE? In all liklihood if he submitted electronically, Revenue Canada would not ask for a paper copy UNLESS, it doesn't correspond with the one they have on file. Your hubby should call CRA, if he is unable to get it from his employer, CRA may send him a copy.

He should create an account on the CRA website, then you can see your T4s, previous years taxes, benefits etc etc easily all in one place.

Definitely contact CRA immediately - the employer is required by law to provide the T4 by the end of Feb or face being fined.

You can set up an account with CRA but keep in mind that not all T4s are available..... The one for my employer was not available so I had to call and ask for a hard copy. If the employer refuses to give one, you can contact CRA. Its March now so if you don't have it, definitely call CRA!!

You could also try to contact the Ministry of Labour. A few years back my husband didn't receive a T4 from a previous employer, so he contacted the ministry of labour. The ministry contacted the employer, and my husband received his T4 maybe a week later from the employer.

Your husband should file a return based on his pay slips from 2011. He then can later file an adjustment to his 2011 return when he gets his information slips. Should CRA give a preliminary refund based on the initial filing, if you get a refund, don't spend all of it in case some of it may later have to go back. Better safe than sorry and broke. Definitely note on the 2011 return that income is based on pay slips and T4 slip was not received from employer (which you name by its legal name).
The ROE is only for the Employment Insurance department, not CRA. As other SCers have posted, getting through to a live EI agent on a lengthy wait-time call is almost a miracle, especially if you have not received your EI outcome/first payment when expected.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.
