Spock says that his ancestor maintained that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.
That line or variations of it are spoken various times by Sherlock Holmes. You are making the deduction that this makes Spock a descendant of Arthur Conan Doyle.

Whereas "Captain Spock, who is half-human, makes a statement implying that he is a descendant of Wold Newton family member Sherlock Holmes." No deduction here.

    Remember Spock is fictional.

This is what happens when you spend all those years at the Academy.

What is your source for "Captain Spock, who is half-human, makes a statement implying that he is a descendant of Wold Newton family member Sherlock Holmes."??

The actual statement from The Undiscovered Country was
"An ancestor of mine maintained that if you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains – however improbable – must be the truth." Whatever source you are quoting has interpreted that as Spock being descended not only from Doyle's fictional Holmes, but from Philip Jose Farmer's borrowed use of that character in the Wold Newton family. Doubly fictional. You say "no deduction here" and I agree - it is sheer supposition. As I have already stated, Holmes is known to be a fictional character in the Trek universe, therefore Spock cannot have intended Holmes. Check your source and get back to me. I think you searched the 'net, found that and just accepted it at face value. Give up already. I haven't figured out who you are yet, but you know who I am and you can't be serious about debating me on this.

    Rock on
I LOVE Don Henley! Shame about the turnout. & I LOVE his version of Cohen's Everybody Knows.

Morning all. Looks like the sun is finally up, even if my critters are still sleeping.

Hope everyone has a great day!
