I do remember they had some great deals... would have had to forego the wine in '77 though since I was only 7 years old, didn't start drinking until I was 12!

And yeah, a job at Mother's doesn't seem like it would be worth having to sleep with the boss.... but I'm sure glad I quit for reasons other than that myself since I was a 14 year old boy at the time....

Actually, now that I think of it, I quit my job as dishwasher at Mothers to become a dishwasher at JJ Muggs in Woodbine Centre. Man, was I ever moving up in the world back then!

Did that last December so I can relate - tired, sore mussels and just wanting to get everything back where it belongs and sit down. We did laminate and vinyl in the entire 2 bedroom apartment without moving out - just moving stuff in three stages.

Try to think that it could be worse - my mom died in the middle of the whole thing. And you did get some exercise and have great floors now.

Beware that carpet hides a lot of dirt and we were sweeping up little bits of sawdust for 6 months - must be the same magic trick that removes one sock from the dryer - where does all this sawdust come from?

Two stores in Oshawa. Simcoe North & King East. Owner was Bob Wingrave. The Manager, most of when I was there was Peter Clarke (he passed away many years ago). Other managers were Doug Fenwick (he went to or came from the Kingston Mothers Pizza and another with the first name of Vance. I worked there for a couple of years in 74/75 and met my husband there (34 years this December 19). We used to get all the left over pizzas at the end of the night. My husband trained at the Upper Gage Street store in Hamilton, 1973/1974 - and yes, Ernie Whitt did own at least one of them. Those were the good years.
