Expiring the thread has happened about 2 or 3 times in the last couple of months. As near as I can figure, that right underneath the page numbers for the link there are 3 tabs (Mark as Expired, Thread tools, Search this Thread). I can only imagine that someone clicked the "Mark as expired" by accident (I have done this before).
I guess my only suggestion is just to be careful as to what we are clicking.

I've probably hit it once or twice in the past myself, lol. Probably when trying to click on a page marker above the "Button of Doom" on my slow-as-molases-in-January computer at work.
