Second Full Moon of the Month Will Ring in 2010



New Year's Eve is never dull. But nights like tonight happen just once in a blue moon.
The term "blue moon" now refers to the second full moon in a month, but folklorists say the phrase has a long and rich history.

Not only will a full moon light up the festive evening, but a so-called blue moon will help ring in 2010 for revelers in the Western hemisphere.
So while you're out carousing with friends or family, take a break from your champagne and noisemakers to look up at the night sky.
You may see the "blue moon," but you won't see the moon awash in the color blue.
The term "blue moon" generally refers to the second full moon in a month and occurs just once every 2.7 years. The last blue moon to shine on New Year's Eve was 19 years ago, in 1990.

That is indeed the common accepted definition...

Personally, I think the worst singer out there has to be Leonard Cohen. Don't get me wrong, I think the man is very talented, a brilliant poet & songwriter, an OK novelist (not my style of literature). But as a singer, well, my cat has more range in his meows. I discovered how much I loved Leonard Cohen songs when I first heard the tribute album Tower Of Song (I'm in love with Don Henley's version of Everybody Knows).

I'm off to my folks for New Years in the morning, so I'll be remiss in doing recaps for the next 2 days. I love this time of year, but it will be nice to get back into a routine.

Hope everyone enjoyed themselves today. We had a few minutes of sunshine this morning, which made up for the cold wind. Anyone else praying for an extra early spring?
