Geez Two Iron, that's unfortunate. It's a good reminder just how easy it is to slip up and end up with a limb wrapped in paper mache for 6 weeks.
Thanks for the well wishes folks, but my predicament was, and is, far less bothersome than Wayne's and Two Iron's. Thankfully, we decided to go with an extended warranty on our washer / dryer combo and this repair will more than pay for it on its own.A truly wise man never plays leapfrog with a unicorn.

Surely there are other, less painful ways to get out of shoveling.

Speaking of weird falls, a good friend of mine had an "interesting" tumble. He got a pet rabbit that had the run of the house, but never went into the kitchen (she didn't like the tiles). Six months after he got the rabbit, he was opening the side door to take out the recycling, tripped over the rabbit (who decided that was the day to venture into the kitchen) & fell out the door...onto the porch, bouced back & did a nose dive down the steps. The rabbit was fine, but he broke his jaw in 3 places. The fun part was explaining to the doctor how it happened. So...while he was waiting in the exam room for a specialist to come by, various nurses, doctors & orderlies would pass by, stop, & laugh. Apparently, he made their night - who could make up a story like that. & yes, he laughs about it now.
When I was on dialysis, I ended up with some weird breaks & had casts on both legs. I had one doctor with a twisted sense of humour. Whenever he ran into me in the hallways of the hospital, he would say in a loud voice, "So, have you learned your lesson? Or do you still plan to go skydiving without a parachute?" The looks on people's faces were priceless.
Hope everyone had a great day & stayed warm.
Night all.

Maybe Q107 has something to do with these weird falls. Maureen Holloway has a story on her blog about falling down the stairs at her house yesterday.

Saw Avatar with a friend tonight. Tried to see it at about 10am on Sunday morning, thinking the heat might have died down a bit, but we were dead wrong. We decided to buy tickets for the next showing available that we could both see, which ended up being today.
This is a movie that DESERVES to be seen on the biggest screen possible. If you can, see it in IMAX 3D. If you have to buy tickets in advance, go see something else and pick up tickets for an IMAX 3D showing a few days later. The best way to describe this film? Typical James Cameron... cheesy, sappy story, presented in an elaborate box with lots of expensive bows and ribbons. But the 3D technology used here is unbelievable. It really has to be seen to be fully appreciated. What do the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Titanic have in common?
