In defence of Electric Viking:

I can understand why some of you were offended or at least taken aback at EV's post, but please accept it in context. I had just made one of my bogus UK Winning Word explanations, in this case of the word "Collaboration". My explanation was that there was a connection to the Vichy France regime, which was the puppet government the Nazis set up to administer occupied France. Those who blindly went along with the Vichy administration were known as "collaboraters". EV's post was a sarcastic reaction to my bogus clue explanation. No political or social motive was intended, I am sure. I must say that the post at least showed that EV has enough awareness of history to have understood my cryptic clue.

For my part in this, if anyone was offended by the Vichy remark, I apologize.

I would agree that if Electric Viking's response was written out similar to how you have written it, it would indeed put those two words in much better context, and most would see them as being in reference only. But to state those "two words" by themselves and nothing else, they simply become an exclamation, and therefore one can only speculate as to what the true intention of the comment was. Some will be right, and some will be wrong. And therein lies the very basis of conflict. To edit the original post would be a good alternative.
