Oh & I got a coffee mug from EZ Rock when they were doing a live feed, many moons ago.

Back when 92.5 was CISS-FM, and the format was urban country, they had a contest called "Show Us Your CISS". Entrants sent in a photograph with them and the station logo. Selected entrants won a coffee mug, and from the coffee mug winners, a Grand Prize of a trip to Florida was drawn.

When I got my tattoo, the artist's wife showed me her entry. Her husband had tattoo'd the station logo on her backside. (which was a little awkward for me, lol!) Unfortunately, she didn't even win a coffee mug. Wonder what she did with the tattoo after the station changed their format?

I took a trip there in 2001. Everything there is priced pretty much the same as it is here. A CD is about 15 pounds. Dinner will set you back about 15 pounds. A chocolate bar, about a pound. The exchange, on the other hand, is a killer!

And culture shock? Our first night there, my travel companions and I went for dinner at a pub for dinner. We looked like idiots standing in the doorway waiting for someone to seat us, while people walked right in and sat down. We were about to leave, because the waiter who brought our menus didn't come back to take our order. Then we realised that it's customary to order at the bar. And tipping? Non-existant there. I left a few pounds on the bar, and the bartender brought them back to me, assuming I'd forgotten the change, lol.

Ah yes, all true. I was there for 2 weeks about 6 years ago. You forgot the best thing, the beer. All good stuff like Stella, and Guiness, and Heineken. From what I remember they were less then 2 pounds, so less then $4 CDN.

From what I remember though, tipping at the bar is not customary, but tipping at a restaurant is. Ahh the memories of a ploughman's lunch.

Also the other thing that I couldn't stop doing until we left, looking the wrong way for cars when crossing the street (looking to the right when they are coming from the left) LOL.

mmmmm... beeeeeeer... actually, it was on that trip that I discovered Smirnoff Ice. Can't remember how many I had that night, but I do recall the walk back to the B&B being rather boisterous.

We never did restaurants. Pubs seemed so much more friendly. (and most of the restaurants we visited closed at dinner time... another culture shock)

The first reminder our tour guide gave us when picking us up at the airport was to remember NOT to look to the right, because "we don't drive on the left side of the road, we drive on the CORRECT side of the road".

Given Shaman's big win, here's a conversation-starter for today:

What's the best prize you've ever won from a radio station giveaway?

Two come immediately to mind for me. The Beatles Remasters box set and tickets to Bon Jovi back on the Have a Nice Day tour in 2005. The show alone was great, but the tickets also included the opportunity to be up on the platform next to the stage for two or three songs.

Well.. I have to say I've been pretty lucky..In 2005 I won a trip to Cuba, 4 1/2 star Breezes, Jibacoa (my first trip of its kind, being an all inclusive.) and as I wasn't dating at the time.. I took my sister.. it was the best trip ever.. Then in 2008 my sister won a trip to Jamaica, a 5 star Sandals resort and in turn she took me.. (her husband was none to happy...lol and being a "couples only" resort..we were one of the cutest couples there)...).. we also just came back from a Chick weekend in Niagara On The Lake from the same Radio station..105.7 ezrock in St. Catharines..
