G'mornin everyone (gawd, I'm always so slow to say that, busy catching up on past pages, and doing a few replies...and reppinh myself into rep hell, of course!!!..LOL!!!)......oh, and Happy Hump day too.....
..OK, a pet peeve, huh?...well, your peeve is up there as one of mine, but my thing is injustice in general.....that can be called inconsideration, lack-of-manners or sheer thoughtlessness......whether it be that I don't get a call to say whoever won't be home for dinner, if someone butts in front of me in a line-up,( which I am NEVER quiet about!!!), or some a$$hole is parked in the disability parking spot and I have to park miles away (anyone else think that there should be cameras installed to take a pic of the licence plate, and send that $300 ticket?).....
...so it's not a single pet peeve, really....it's more of a blanket peeve, and I'll bet most people would agree with me...TR

Today also marks the 51st Anniversary of The Day the Music Died. Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and The Big Bopper were all killed in a plane crash outside Clear Lake, Iowa.

J.P. Richardson (The Big Bopper) wasn't even supposed to be on the flight. He had developed a case of the flu, and asked Waylon Jennings who, at the time was a member of Holly's band, for his seat. Holly was upset that Jennings wasn't going to join him, and apparently told Jennings "I hope that ol' bus freezes up", refering to the tour bus the group had been travelling in, which had been experiencing problems with its heat. Jennings response? "Well, I hope that ol' plane crashes". Can you imagine living with that?

Valens wasn't supposed to be on the flight, either. He won his seat from another of Holly's bandmates in a coin toss.

Another well known artist decided at the last minute that he would not go on a helicopter flight near Milwaukee and in doing so, was not there when a crash took the life of a well known southern rocker. Can you name both of them?

I have three that I alternate: The Cantina Band from Star Wars, the outro to Springsteen's Thunder Road (starts just after "It's a town full of losers, I'm pulling out of here to win") and Rosalita ("This is his last chance, to get his daughter in a fine romance...")

Mine sounds like those old telephones that they used to use in the early days of the home phone (you see them on the Andy Griffith show) - the big wooden box on the wall with the crank handle that you turned until the operator plugged in and helped you to connect your call. My aunt was one of those Bell Telephone operators in Brampton. I also remember that my cousins in rural Alberta had one of those phones until the mid 70s when they were forced to modernize or lose their service!

This always bugs me in hotels, that they feel the need to do this on my behalf. I end up tearing off the first sheet because who wants to wipe with something that has been manipulated by a stranger?

Would I be accused of being a smart ass if I said that I thought someone may be being just a little bit "anal retentive"?

Didn't the fine recently go up to $500? (and deservedly so) Someone in a forum I used to post in got nailed with one. I remember she was really upset, complaining that there was "no way" she could pay this. (this from a woman who spends thousands annually travelling) Needless to say, the "princess" and I butted heads over this for a while.

I bet I know who that was. And you were right all the way!

What a loss. I've always loved Stevie Ray's music. I was lucky enough to have front row, center tickets to see him. Opening act #1 was Jeff Healey. Opening act #2 was Jeff Beck. Awesome, awesome show.
