You're absolutely right and it sounds like this is a kid who needs professional help.
It wasn't my intention to make less of the situation. I merely meant to say that in most instances there is nothing to worry about and overreaction can cause more trouble than it need.
Some kids just don't know how much reaction is too much.
If this were my daughter you bet I'd be all over this. But I didn't want to worry Karmac unnecessarily in the event that this was less than it seems to be. You wouldn't believe the stuff I hear sometimes. But saying "I'll kill you!" isn't necessarily a serious threat.
How many times have you said it with out meaning it?
Kids sometimes just say it with more feeling behind it...

Nope. You don't seem like a bad person at all. On the contrary, it makes you a good person to feel bothered.
I'm not sure why I'm calm now, possibly because I believe the child is simply choosing inappropriate words to verbalize his anger and am convinced that he will not go through with it. But when it happened last month, my daughter asked me to talk to him and I told her that I couldn't because I wasn't sure that I could control my anger and might end up hurting him.Just because something isn't right for YOU doesn't mean it's wrong.

I've heard that too. But never overheard a kid saying to their friend "I'm going to bring in a gun and shoot Megmac and her mom and dad and sister". It blew me away so bad (figuratively of course). I kept thinking how nice I had been to the kid. I even gave him some of my lunch on the school trip when he didn't have enough to eat and this is the thanks I get.Just because something isn't right for YOU doesn't mean it's wrong.

Work's getting in the way this aft - but wanted to pop in and say
To Shaman & EV - tally ho, pip pip, cheerio and all that rot, gov'nas.
To Karmac - you are one cool cucumber. Age notwithstanding, I would have involved my local constabulary by now. A child yelling "I'll kill you" is not the same as the virulence that came out of that boy's mouth. In this case, I don't think it possible to overreact.
