It is the drug testing afterwards that they delay the ceremonies for now.

My son told me that the reason for the later medal ceremonies is because each medal is custom engraved for the winner, so that they are each truly unique. Personally, I think it's a nice touch that helps to recognize the special achievements of the winners on the world's stage.

I hate to say but the sum of all the incidents especially the threat tells me you should tell the pricipal to contact the police liason. It's not an official police matter but it can be made into one if the problem isn't resolved. This gives incentive to the offender's parents to take it more seriously but still be relieved in the fact that at the present there is no record against the offender.

I agree. At least if it escalates, it will be documented with the police. Surely hope that doesn't happen. Hopefully the little devil with be dealt with by his parents.

I'm blessed with two sons who are great helpers and who are bigger and stronger than their old man. When they decide to move out for good I'm going to have to invest in a snowblower.

I haven't heard about the persoally engraved part, but I did read that the medals were all designed by the atheletes themselves to represent the sport they were in. For example Cherie Piper would have her input into how the womans hockey medal would appear, Martin would have his input into the curling medal, etc.

The designs of the medals were inspired by the athletes themselves, who shared their stories and experiences about medals from the past as well as their visions for future medals. Each unique medal reflects the athlete’s personal story and achievement.
And for the first time, the medals include a special wavy form, representing the ocean waves, drifting snow and beautiful mountains of the Vancouver-Whistler landscape created by Canadian industrial designer Omer Arbel.
The design on the medals is based on contemporary Aboriginal artwork by Canadian artist Corrine Hunt. The Olympic medal includes an orca whale while the Paralympic medal is based on the raven. Because of the medals unique wavy form, the design and text had to be individually laser engraved. The name of the Games in both English and French, emblems and name of the sport are on the back side of the medals.
The Olympic medals measure 100 millimeters in diameter and are six mm thick. The Paralympic medals are a bit smaller, 95 mm wide. While the Olympic medals are circular, the Paralympic medals are a super-ellipse shape and also include Braille on the back side. Depending on the medal, each weighs between 500 and 576 grams making them among the heaviest athlete medals in Olympic history.
2.05 kilograms of gold, 1, 950 kg of silver and 903 kilograms of copper were used in the medals. The specific content of e-waste material used in the medals are as follows: Gold – 1.52 percent, Silver – 0.122 percent and Copper – 1.11 percent.

Hopefully if they went to all that trouble they might as well personlly engrave their names.

They did mention last week the delay was for drug testing though. It was after onr of the sleding events.
