As long as the person is big enough, strong enough and fit enough to do the job, I don't care what sex they are. I would much rather have someone the size of Hulk Hogan rescuing me than someone my size (5'2" with a small frame). While I have had training in a variety of what one typically thinks of a "he-man" pursuits (fire fighting, naval vessel damage control, etc.) and I know what to do and how to do it, I still don't want "me" rescuing me, thank you very much.
When I was in university, I had an in on the TFD who got me an interview with the Chief at the time. This was when the City of Toronto was thinking about relaxing the fitness standards and height/weight standards, ostensibly to allow for more minorities on the Department. Chief was rather cautious until he realized that I was all for rigorous fitness and “big” height and weight standards - then the flood gates opened. Out of deference to him, I didn't use half the stuff he gave me in my study - but it sure was an interesting conversation!
When Size actually does matter - I wish City Council would just use some common sense.
(Did I just use City Council and common sense in the same sentence? Silly me)Courage is not the absence of fear but acting in spite of it.

Remember Ludens wild cherry cough drops and Bayer's orange flavoured children's aspirin? Those were the best tasting "medicines" ever! I ate almost a whole bottle of the aspirins when I was about 10! LOL
