Three old ladies were sitting side by side in their retirement home
reminiscing.
The first lady recalled shopping at the green grocers and demonstrated
with her hands,
the length and thickness of a cucumber she could buy for a penny.
The second old lady nodded, adding that onions used to be much bigger
and cheaper also,
and demonstrated the size of two big onions she could buy for a penny a
piece.
The third old lady remarked, "I can't hear a word you're saying,
but I remember the guy you're talking about."

Budget Alternative
Dear Mr.. Harper,
Please find below my suggestion for fixing Canada's economy. Instead of giving billions of dollars to the car industry that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.
You can call it thePatriotic Retirement Plan:
There are about 10 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them 1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:
1) They MUST retire. Ten million job openings -Unemployment fixed.
2) They MUST buy a new CAR. Ten million carsordered - Automotive Industry fixed.
3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage -Housing and Mortgage Crisis fixed.
4) They must send their kids to school / college / university - Crime rate fixed.
5) Buy $50 of alcohol/gas a week - there's yourmoney back in duty / tax etc.
It can't get any easier than that!
P.S. If more money is needed, have all members ofparliament pay back their falsely claimed expenses andsecond home allowances.
If you think this would work, please forward to everyoneyou know.
