hey, everybody; thanks for winning words.
i'm very upset about my experience trying to enter bmo today. it was 'stand in the sun until every single man, woman, child and all creatures in between were frisked/patted down one at a time day. i must have been the only person there that didn't know it was pat-down day (because some ass had sold beer to a minor one day-when? i don't know). apparently, we had been sent e-mails explaining everything, but i hadn't checked mine. i had no idea...i stood from 1:35pm at gate 3 until 2:15pm and that's when all hell broke loose. my interaction with the teenage staff at the gate was both humiliating and demeaning and no accalades for toronto's finest either. the cop watched as i was degraded by a young woman who was approximately 1 inch from my face using a voice just short of screaming, in a "lingo" i didn't understand..."disrespecting her", "cussing" (what does that mean? is that slang for cursing?) "yo", "ya'll bedda" using very animated body language; heading bobbing side to side, forward & reverse(hmmm...would that be considered...are u ready for this..."turtle-toeing"? and a lot of hand action.
i know any issue i had/have was not with this young lady, nor the second frisker...a young man who watches you get frisked then does it again, nor the wanna-be-biker security guard that was called to assist, nor the 3 police officers that were called to assist him...all because i refused to let them to "frisk" my 11 yr old neice. had i known what i was in for i'd have stayed home. this story is too long!
not only that smartcanuckers, but once in the stadium(2:30pm) they were handing out expired contest cards(for a bbq)! expired july 3/09! by this time we'd missed most of the first half and i was too upset to watch the game. my neice had been soooo excited to attend the game and the poor thing just stood there crying. bmo so afraid that someone's sneaking in booze, geesh. i don't even drink alcohol.
if these thugs worked at the airport we'd never have to worry about "home-land security".
anyhoo, anyone interested in my season tickets? or the madrid game in august?
it's 9:08pm and i'm still fuming!

Wow Putt! Sorry to hear about your awful experience; and your young niece, too. I just don't know what our city is becoming. It used to be such a safe and friendly place. I hope you can put it in the past and have a great night because there are still lots of us good and reasonable people out there ... like us Q friends

Holy smokes putt. I dont even know what bmo stands for, but after reading your post, I would be selling off my tickets too. I can't believe they wanted to frisk an 11 year old girl. Ok there are some idiots out there trying to smuggle in the odd bottle or can, but "security" should what to apply and when to apply it. Dont mean to fuel your fire, but I'd be fuming as well.
p.s what's bmo and where is it? I want to know what to avoid.

There are more than 100 world known personalities on this painting.
If you can name 25, you may consider yourself a cultivated person. Good luck.

London Times Obituary of the late Mr. Common Sense........
Interesting and sadly rather true.
'Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who
has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was,
since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He
will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
Knowing when to come in out of the rain; why the early bird gets the
worm; Life isn't always fair; and maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more
than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in
charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but
overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy
charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended
from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for
reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the
job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly
children.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental
consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but
could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to
have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses;
and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you
couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar
could sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to
realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in
her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement..
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his
wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He
is survived by his 4 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, I Want It Now,
Someone Else Is To Blame, and I'm A Victim.
Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If
you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do
nothing.'
