An appropriate word for the 11:15.....
The sun ain't shining, but my lawn sure is green!
A good day to listen to tunes on the "Q",
Cause I just gotta say it beats watching The View!
Some of us have "Q" memories that go back quite a while,
I like when those tunes twig your memory file,
So much has changed since the "Q's" inception,
The twists & the turns that have made life's direction,
So many great artists that have left us their mark,
Remind Silly Ole Loocie, that life's been a lark!!!

I used to see something that I liked on the Q prize vault and bid on it daily. I was draining my points every day and I was doing that for a long time. Unfortunately that method never worked for me.
Now I am just collecting the points to see if I could collect a substantial amount to bid on something that I really want. So far, there is nothing that really "wows" me so I am just collecting the points.
(I am a bit of a points junkie anyway, Q points, now defunct JACK Nation points, Air Miles, Coke Points, etc.)
It is my understanding that a lot of Smart Canuckers have horded their points and bid on something only to come out empty handed. But I have heard of a couple of SCers actually win something from the Q Prize Vault in the few months I have been an SCer.
BTW, I found this site by accident. I was looking for a Q Winning Word that I missed, so I Googled and next thing I knew Smart Canucks came up. What a gold mine of Q words and even Jack Nation words and codes. I was an observer for about a week, and then I joined.
Smart Canucks is now one of my favourite web sites!

Hey fellow Q fans. I just viewed a private message to me from KarlB, and some of the content of the message reminded me of a joke I used to tell when I was a kid. Hopefully it is not too dodgy for any of you.
Hopefully I can remember it too...
A flat chested woman was walking along the beach when she stumbled across a magic lamp. So she rubs the lamp and a genie appears. The genie is thankful for being released from the lamp and he grants the girl one wish. (The genie is a bit of a cheapskate for this joke because don't they normally grant three wishes?)
Anyhow, the girl said to the genie, "I wish I had bigger boobs".
The genie replied, "Of course you can have them. But it will be a gradual process so that your endowment won't be noticed immediately. I will make it so that if anyone says the word "Pardon", then your boobs will grow a little bit."
So, the genie disappears, and the girl gets on with her day, looking forward to what could happen to her physique. She continues to walk along the beach, and two joggers run past her, one of them slightly bumping into her. "Pardon me", says the jogger who bumped into her. Bam Bam! Then her chest grows a little bit!
"Wow", she thought, "This is great! The genie wasn't lying to me."
So the girl continues her walk. She sees some people she knows, and mumbles "Hi" to them. Her friends say, "I beg your pardon?" Bam Bam! Her chest grows a little bit more. The girl is thinking about how fantastic her day is already going.
Later on in the day, the girl decides to go out for lunch. She picks a Moroccan restaurant. While she is ordering her food, another waiter with a bowl of soup over his head rushes by, trips, then spills the soup all over the girl.
"A thousand pardons ma'am"

my strategy is to consider the points lost whenever i put ballots in on something, lol! just the other day i 'lost' 800,000 points for ballots on the tripod (of course, i didn't win it). So i just say it's fun to be part of this group and help out when i can by posting some winning words, etc. I've heard lots of people here have won some cool stuff by calling in to the station, so maybe that's where you have more of a chance to win something? Also, the 'mm' types are multi-station prizes, so of course chances are much, much less of winning. I've heard the 'L' type prizes are easier to get at.
Hope everybody's having a good day and managing to stay dry out there!

Remember that in the prize vault there are 2 different types..
L and MM.
L = Local, your chances of winning are better than MM
MM = Mass Media....open to basically all "corus entertainment" radio stations...check it out there are alot...
People have spent litterly millions of points only to win a chance to collect more...
I think KarlB is the leader in hording points...over 8 million..but give him credit there's nothing he likes, he wins a lot of concert tickets...
I used to horde points, but now just get the raffle tickets on whatever I think I don't need...cause if I needed it, I wouldn't win....it still hasn't paid off...
Maybe if the Q had an auction using your points like other radio stations there would be more interest or a least more reason to horde points...

I found the site searching for 'winning word', too.
My strategy is putting all my points on many things and count them lost. The fun is in knowing that I could win something every day and get a nice surprise. Hope is a powerful thing.
Thanks for the MM versus local strategy. Didn't know that one.
Have a great day Qsters.

I don't have any local prizes to choose from only MM. Does anyone have any L's?
I'm in Mississauga. Maybe L is only available to Toronto people.
