The changes will include scrapping the 10-day return policies that have existed at Sears for years. The department store operator will also stop charging a restocking fee for big ticket items.
While McDonald said Tuesday there are no plans to close further stores at this point, he outlined plenty of other drastic reductions at the company that are part of a three-year plan it hopes will transform operations.
The company will reduce the number of brands it sells in its stores to 20 down from 90.
"We just don't need a plethora of brands that are nominal in size and dollar volume," he said. This thread is currently associated with: Sears

Thanks for the newspaper link! I am guessing that if the 90 lines drop to 20 lines, it will still be hard to find a sales associate at cash (only 2 counters at Lime Ridge store in women's wear and the lineups depend if you can scope out the least busy one as well as time your visit to slow periods in weekdays/weeknights).
Speaking of clutter, I wish Sears would restore some humanity to their floor staff and stop 7am weekend sales. Really, staff benefit from having a sane hour to get up and breakfast like the rest of us.
