I'm hoping the pictures upload, I often don't upload pictures on smartcanucks!
I just wanted to share something I use all the time and has saved me a ton of money over time! I tend to attract the broken/defective items! It seems like everything I purchase has some sort of defect right out of the box or simply stops working only after being used for 3 months. I seriously have more than 3 sony or samsung DVD players that are under a year old that for whatever reason stoped working. In the last two years I've been extremely diligent keeping important receipts and In the last year its really saved me a lot of money.
I bought a funky pink box from walmart and some smaller sized envelopes from walmart. I took all the receipts I had been pinning on a bulletin board and put them in these envelopes. I've labeled each envelope with the name of place I bought the item from, date, if warranty was purchased etc.
I had a camera I bought that stopped working 7 months after I got it and I was able to quickly find my receipt and got a straight over the counter exchange. It some cases that doesn't happen, but more often than not items have a one year warranty on them which saves you purchasing a new one.
I've gotten in the habit of coming home and quickly putting my more important receipts in the box!
Just thought I would share

Looks great. I have a folder in my files for "purchases" and usually can never find anything. Lol

I have a file for important receipts, but your system would be easier to find the receipt. My things usually breakdown after warranty is up.

That's an awesome idea - love it! I've gotten into the habit of holding my receipts by month and then printing off my bank statement and matching them up to make sure everything adds up. Also, good way to keep track of where my money's going.
