Today, I rec'd my package from the Canadian Diabetes Association. They offer a one-time Compassionate Care program for Diabetics who need a little break from buying *very* expensive testing supplies. THANK YOU, kitkong for telling me about this program., and to the CDA for sending it to me!
Included in this package was a glucose meter, 300 lancets and 300 test strips. This should last me about 6 weeks!!
If anyone needs more info about this... please PM me and I can send you the link...This thread is currently associated with: N/ALast edited by hogama; Tue, Apr 3rd, 2012 at 06:24 PM.

I'd also love the link, my daughter is Type 1. Is this available for Type 2's as well, there are so many people who need to check their blood, but don't have benefits!

Thank you for sharing this, I am insulin dependent type 2 and test often. I did call them about their new meter advertised on tv and they sent me a 15. dollar off coupon for it, I still can't afford it but it was a nice thought. They asked me a bunch of questions so be prepared for this might not be so easy to obtain.

Great to know. My fiancé is diabetic and we have great coverage right now, but if in the future we did find ourselves without health insurance between jobs, this would be a great resource. Thanks!

i would love the link as well. i have gestational diabetes and i know how expensive these things are. i'm lucky that i was given a meter for free from my dietician and i have coverage for my lancets and test strips through dh work. my mom and sister both have type 2 diabetes and i would love to give them the link to help them out too.
I am hoping i can keep being diet controlled as it reduces my risk of becoming diabetic full time once i have the baby. (as opposed to if i was on insulin) my Dr and dietician are both surprised and proud of me as they both thought i would be on insulin by 20 weeks and I'm about 30 weeks so farIntergalactic Proton Powered Electrical Tentacled Advertising Droids!

Wow, great brag! My DD has been a Type 1 diabetic since the age of 2 (coming up on 15 years now) and I have been so fortunate to have had great medical coverage for the past 12 years. I remember how tough it was for the first couple of years. This is a great program for people without good health coverage.
