I was just curious as to if anyone has designated the amount of $ they save on couponing towards something specific, i.e. trip, lump sump for mortage, renovations?
Thinking it might be interesting to see what you put your savings towards!!!
Personally at this point, I'm just paying off bills but once I'm all caught up I want to start put the amount of $ saved each week into an account for either family vacation to Poland or more aggresive payments to pay off my mortage quicker. We all ready do the max in extra payments but would like to to the match a payment as well every once in a while. This thread is currently associated with: N/A2019 is the year that we continue to save before we buy!!!

We paid off our credit cards, but it was a slow winter for my BF (construction) so it was kind of a floater then. We also bought a new TV and monitors with the savings
Any money I 'make' from surveys, swagbucks, superpoints is to spend on the frivilous stuff I want but don't need.

I was thinking of posting about this.
I put all the extra money I save from couponing towards jaw droppingly beautiful ideal cut diamonds the size of eggs and extravagant trips to New York
....is what I'd like to say. Realistically, it goes towards paying off debts. Oh well.Last edited by sweet sparrow; Tue, Apr 10th, 2012 at 10:52 PM.

All savings from using sales and coupons gets banked to help increase the amount we put down for our next mortgage renewal. In the meantime, it's an emergency fund that we haven't had to use *knock on wood.*

Well, we've been doing this for the last few years, so it's all kind of rolled into our budget. Since I started couponing, we've had two kids and moved to a bigger house. I think couponing makes the costs much more manageable. I'm not chasing every deal, but try to make coupons/sales for the expensive things we do buy work for us. It would be interesting to keep track of what's saved, though. I do automatically put the Universal Child Care benefit into a RESP and have money automatically deducted each month to put into RRSPs, so I know how small amounts can add up!

Our family has a monthly allowance for variable expenses. Money saved in one category goes towards extra in another category like shopping/fun. We have the monthly allowance so that we can put the rest of our money towards mortgage prepayments and savings.
