Happy Birthday!! I am so sorry he did not have something special planned, I was hoping he did, and kinda teared up when I found out he didn't, he does need a sensitivity course or something, this is not cool guys need to know that girls look at b-days differently (also many other dates) and need to know they can not just send a b-day wish over FB

aww Happy Birthday! I waited to post until today with hopes that he'd somehow surprise you with something in the evening!
I swear guys can be so stupid sometimes. I'm so sorry your day was a bust. I'm glad you talked to him about it though. Hopefully, maybe, he'll try to make it up to you!

So a day later now, and he realizes how upset I am! Brings me coffee and toast in bed, and suggests we go for a walk!?!? If he had just started off yesterday like this and made an effort toward my bday, I wouldn't be upset today! Now he's making it up to me." Which will take more effort than just being a real man and making sure I had a good birthday to begin with! Btw...toast and coffee in no way got him out of the dog house! I'm still bitter.
EEWW!... I just had some of his toast offering. Cinnamon raisin toast with dill cream cheese! He really is a clueless manLast edited by K8's Fate; Sun, Apr 15th, 2012 at 10:07 AM.

Cinnamon toast with dill cream cheese hahaha. I would chalk this up to clueless man syndrome. Does he make a big deal about his own birthday? My husband never wants a party or gifts or anything so sometimes I feel like he treats others on their birthday the same way he wants to be treated

On his next birthday forget it and don't bother getting presents or do anything for his birthday.Pretend like you forgot. Then he'll see how it feels.

sorry this happened. Hopefully he and you can work toward getting past this and he knows for the future that it's not the size of the gesture (as you said) but that he goes through the trouble of doing something special for you (irregardless of cost).

firstly HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!
Secondly -Men are dumb like that. You are not overreacting. They fail to see how important some days are. My DH did that a few times when we were first together -ignored my birthday, forgot valentines day, and the now famous "you are not MY mother" mothers day
Now I just bluntly tell him "My birthday is next week -we are going to do something- you figure it out" as someone above suggested, hand him his coat and keys, and say " You are an idiot -It's my birthday, you are doing something nice for me, lets go!"

Happy Belated Birthday!
You are NOT over-reacting! If DH ever forgot my birthday he'd be on the couch for at least a week! The fact that he didn't actually forget (as he did say Happy B-Day on Facebook) says to me that he just didn't care enough about your feelings to plan something special. There are lots of things you can do without spending money (like the walk he suggested a day late) and you can buy cupcakes at the store for under $5!

seriously.. my hubby is not a 'planner' either.. so I tell him..were doing this...he never says no... he's been pretty good the last few years for all the special events.. improved alot. but its taken years of hard training on my part to get him him there. this Tuesday is our anniversary.. were starting off early once the kids are gone to school .. then were going out for breakfast before he leaves for work. then maybe if he behaves himself.. i'll take him out for dinner.. (um we won a gift certificate to our fav. restaurant).. no gifts though... saving for sons party. anyway.. i really hope Mr. K8 learns his lesson.
