I went to Shoppers this afternoon to do a 20x points purchase. I thought I had done my math right, but when I got to my car to double check my receipt, i was in fact a little less than $3 away from a $50 subtotal!!! arrrggg. So mad at myself!!! I don't know how I managed to mis-calculate, but man, what a freaking waste!!!

Had to tell someone that would understand.. cursing at myself.

    I feel for you....

If you'd had time you could've ran back and and re-purchased.
Or some stores will let you buy something to make the difference and manually give you the points.

I haven't done that but I have had them enter the coupons wrong!

I wasn't sure if I could do 2 transactions, or if they would hate me for having to manually return and re-purchase everything. I decided against trying it lol.

Yeah this sucks, but I think it has happened to a lot of us at one time or another.

I had a bad experience where my subtotal was over $50 but then it dropped with coupons (to $37) and she said I didn't get the points because of that though thy were entered as 2001. We looked at the receipt and I had 490 base points -I had missed the $0.60 in bottle deposits for those 6 packs of pops they always have on special. So they voided it reluctantly saying I still wouldn't get them even if I threw in a chocolate bar - but I did.

Since then I give myself a $5 buffer or so (if i am hovering around the minimum purchase) for when things ring in cheaper (who'd of thunk that'd be a problem, lol) and just really watch the bottle deposits.

Me, trying to be smart and clever one time and trying to get as little over $50 as possible. Miscalculated and was off by 1 cent. Was so mad at myself, and on top of that, DH had to make a remark like why do you do that and cut it so close? Kick me while I'm down. Never doing that again and always give myself a buffer.

I made the same mistake on an 18500 points day and was almost in tears (then I watched the news and felt REALLY REALLY shallow/sheltered/selfish/and really really lucky to live in Canada and not any other country in which there is turmoil). We are blessed to have these "shopping mishaps" as worries not life-threatening ones.

I have yet to try a 20x the points event using coupons so I wholeheartedly thank you and others for posting your mishaps - as painful as they may be so others may learn.

I feel for you. I bring a calculator with me but it doesn't help....I accidently hit keys and my OOP is always different. The buffer idea is good.

Oh, that's too bad... but it has happened to me in the past, too.
I now just never keep it close, always go over.

Ugh. That sucks. I have had that happen to me as well.

Now, I also put a buffer of about of about 8.00 and buy 2 extra 4Ls of milk or something else we will use during the week. I use a calculator too, just to make sure, before I get to the till, and then I watch the screen like a hawk!!
