SDM 2001 & 2004 code comparison with pictures

I just thought to share this with everyone who is wondering about how coupons are encoded at SDM.
I did 2 transactions yesterday... Exactly the same items ( minus the plastic bags on the 2nd transaction)
and same coupons but codes for coupons were encoded differently.
When it was 2001, i paid taxes for pre-coupon amount.. when it was encoded 2004 i paid taxes after coupons were deducted which
was so much better for me:-)

but on both occassions I got 20x points on pre-coupon amount.

So 2004 saves the GST part of the HST?

2004 is a store coupon code and 2001 is manufacturer coupon code.

Transaction #2 is more accurate. The Pantene coupons should be entered as 2004 as those coupons are exclusive to SDM, they are store coupons.

Yes it's been like that for long time no matter if it was new or old register, I love those 2004 coupons, tax was deducted as well!

:O I would of gone back and complained because technically they did the first transaction wrong and you had to pay taxes which you shouldn't of had to on the store coupons.

I hope you don't mind if I ask what was the coupons for the second transaction?

2003-2004 coupons are codes for SDM exclusive coupons (including those little manager special stickers) - I think 2003 is non pointable ;)

They are peelies attached to the shampoos. Some peelies are only $2 off so you have to really check before buying.

Interesting!!! I bought several bottles this weekend and all the $4 coupons were entered as code 2001! I am just learning so I didn't even know it was wrong until now.

I'm not just learning, and yet I didn't know that 2004 wouldn't be taxable otherwise I would have asked for it. The only things I have bought before that had 2004 coupons were always food. Good lesson learned, only cost me $3 in tax to learn it.

i don't think we can request what they enter coupons as :)

they have the dif coupons for dif types of coupons, and how they enter it is according to company policy.

Sorry If I confused anyone... yes the 2004 can only be for store coupons not manufacturer ones. The error on my 1st transaction was that the cashier keyed in my store coupons as 2001 just like any manufacturer coupons which should not have been the case. But I did not know that 2004 was the correct key and to my surprise it gave me the points even with no tax... so lesson learned for me.. if it is a store coupon make sure they key it in as 2004 so I dont pay the tax and still get the points.

they should have a sign at the counter, sometimes it's hard to keep it all straight! :)

Yes they are exclusive to shoppers but they are still Pantene coupons (manufacture coupons).
They are not the shoppers coupons that are 2004.
