I live in the country or bush as I like to call it. Tomorrow is blue box pick-up not far from my home and I'm going to be doing a recycle drive by as it's way to far to walk from house to house.

    I know that I should be looking for ;

    Allen apple juice cans,

    lean cuising points,

    icoke,

looking on cereal for juice coupons,

hamburger helper for $3.00 off ground beef,

ol el paso (free 2l coke),

magazines & aeroplan pins from Peachykeen2007

old el paso $4 chicken or beef coupons from Peachykeen2007

Things you can use in your house - I have found plant pots, laundry baskets, chairs, you name it!

Don't forget a plastic bag for $$bottles from princesskimmi

kids snacks, fruit rollups and such have movie coupons from hollyquaiscer

Dare Bear Paws boxes have coupons for more bear paws, crackers, and some have $4 Nestle chocolate coupons. I think there's some juice FPC on Cheerios boxes. Also look for B1G1 movie pins on those, and Kelloggs breakfast FPC pins FROM torontogal12

Areo bubbles bags, they have pin's for 10 aeroplans miles
    from wolfman

    inserts

    ANYTHING ELSE????

Some of the kids snacks, fruit rollups and such have movie coupons on them. Also gingerale can cartons. They have the 1.50 coupon on them.

    The police?

I don't think that most cities/municipalities really like people doing recycle walks, unfortunately.

So I did it, I got in the car....drove and drove. Got 6 inserts, 1 icoke cap, and 1 cereal box with $1.00 off all bran bar.....Next week I will be heading more into a residential area and will walk, hopefully I will have better luck. Anyhow I was out for about 45 minutes so I guess for the 1st time and driving (not so bad) and of course the recycle truck had already gone by most houses

The one item that is worth the most is the flyer inserts.
About half of them are untouched, as delivered so you learn which paper to look in and which insert and take it out in seconds.
It is most efficient to go out about 11pm ( all recycling out) and walk in a town with tidy single family dwellings close together.

It really helps if you read what other people got on their recycling walks and that gives you an idea what to look for.

Is it really legal to take from the Blue Box? I see the advantages of using what others throw out, but before I go out & take things from others' boxes, is it legal to do so? I'd hate to have to explain to the police/judge why I'm rooting through the blue boxes at night!

Each town/ municipality has their own by-laws regarding touching other people's recycling / trash.
Generally speaking it is a "no-no".

My attitude is that it is more of a crime to let all of those good coupons and labels go into pulp.
If you chose to do a recycle walk, stay tidy ( I clean the area better than I find it), quiet, polite and low-key.

Not one person has been bothered by my recycling walks so far and all who find out that I do this, think it is great.

If you chose to inquire about your local by-laws, try to do so in a low-key way( ie look online) so as to not alert officious clerks what may be happening.
It may take some long internet searching to find out that particular law.
