Do soda pop cans go straight to the recycling bin? You can't exchange them in grocery stores for 5 cents/can? I recently moved here and all I know is that you can get your deposits back.
I appreciate all inputs. Thank you.

They do go in the recycling. To my knowledge, you can't exchange them, but I may be wrong...used to be able to when I was a kid, but I'm probably dating myself. LOL
Recycling bin. Unless you want to save a large number of cans and take them to a scrap metal dealer for the price of the aluminum.
Unlike some provinces here it goes in the recycle bins
you can get .10 per beer can when returned to vendor.
I miss saskatoon for this reason. You could return anything for a refund there, pop cans, juice boxes, water bottles, glass bottles.. pretty much everything BUT milk containers would get you $$ back.
I once witnessed a guy cash in 3 garbage bags of juiceboxes (was a school teacher), for around $125!! :excited:
I find it annoying that we pay the enviro levy/ deposit and get nothing back for it.
I guess it is like another tax for us. Yay for tax! :)
Sam Katz was trying to set up a recycling centre here in Manitoba where we could get money back for our tin cans but nothing came out of it yet. I hope he does get it going as this would be an amazing thing for us here. Problem with Sask, is you have to prove residency there in order to get $ back; so my sister lives in SK and her parent's-in-law works out good for them. Her kids school supplies get paid from my recycling lol...
That brings to mind an episode of Seinfeld.....
Wow! I'm moving to Calgary next month and will need to figure out how it works there! 5 cents back for every drinking box could add up to quite a bit in my house!
