I just hung a light fixture at my moms. The instructions said assembly time is one hour. Sure enough it took a friggin hour to put it all together, but looks great. An electrician friend came by and wired it for me. Her old kitchen fixtures are originals when they built their house, so about 55 yrs old.
Got a load of dirt for her garden, and will be starting her waterfall soon. My own backyard is looking like crap!

Love the chalk board Bub! When we moved in last year I was going to use the basement as my craft room, then it got leaky and damp. But before the leak I painted two areas with magnetic paint and then chalk paint over top of that. It's pretty cool even if it isn't used now. I see on Pinterest that you can make your own chalkboard paint with unsanded grout and latex. May give it a whirl.

We just fixed our ugly garage door and repainted the outside lights. Our house is red brick and the door was green. Like asparagus green. The front door is black and the lights were one white and two cream. Oh and the medallion over the garage was blue (ok it still is and will be until we take the basketball net down).

Garage door was starting to rot at the bottom a little so I chiseled out the rotten wood, replaced it, took the orbital sander to it, caulked it and repainted it flat black. It's a great fix until we can put a new door in (after the eavestrough, the furnace and fixing the leaky basement)

I took down the outside lights and cleaned and sprayed them with Tremclad in Hammered metal. They look pretty awesome if I do say so myself. All it all it cost about $150 to do the repairs, repaint and by the tools I needed (spade bits and what not).

I'm now a spray painting maniac. I want to redo the kitchen chandelier next.

Kevin's desk needed a makeover, about 2 years ago I got a regular desk from Ikea, needless to say the color started coming of when I washed it so I told him to pick some tiles. Yesterday we went to a tile out let 8 tiles @ $3.49 each to redo it. I already had the adhesive and the chrome edging. So this will be easy peasy to clean and hopefully he will not tire of it anytime soon. Did a before and after pic.

Also built a little stand for his computer to sit on under the desk now. It's drying in the garage I sprayed it black. I used an old wood shelf cut it in half and then made legs out of 2 x 4's
