So, I got sleeping pills.... which didn't agree with me and it cost me $ 4.58 ( I got drug benefits)

the pharmicist won't give me a refund, I only tried 1/2 a tablet

should I keep taking it? or just throw it away?

I hate to see my money thrown away like that

You will not get a refund on dispensed prescription medication.

Have you spoken with your doctor? In what way didn't they agree with you?

It's hardly a fortune you are throwing away and your receipt can still be used on your 2012 tax return

I agree with pippenelkhound. Go and talk to your doc and explain how and why the prescribed drugs didn't work. If s/he recoomends another drug, ask if they have samples for you to try rather than buying a rx worth of drugs.

i was on another brand of SP
but it left a bad taste in my mouth
and asked to try a differenent one.... i don't like it
im going back to my original one, but the thought of wasting $4.58 pisses me off
so i'm wondering should i continue to take it? so i don't waste my hard earned money
    or just ditch it??!!

You should ask your Dr for samples if they are changing your meds. My family Dr is great about that. I was there a few weeks ago with a dd and he wanted to put her on calcium pills. He leaves the room and came back with 24 BOTTLES, each bottle had 12 pills in it. He said to try them, he would retest her after that, and if they were helping, he would give her a script for them. He always does that. Most Dr. will give you some sort of a sample to try for a few weeks at least to see if it agrees with you before you go spending money on it. Most don't give what our Dr gives, but he has been our family Dr for over 20 years, he is like family to us.

don't keep taking them just to not waste $5. If they are not agreeing with you, it best to talk to your doctor again. Take the pills back the the pharmacy so they can dispose of them safely.

Were they blue? the ones that left the bad taste in your mouth. If they are and you eat dairy foods it will cause a nasty taste in your mouth.

Yep, stop taking them if they don't agree with you. Give them to the drugstore for safe disposial. And talk to your doc about samples untill you find one that works.

If they aren't agreeing with you then back to the pharmacy for safe disposal. It isn't a ton of money to "waste" if they are really causing you problems. No use suffering to save $5.

I've had sleeping pills in the past that have left an awful metallic taste in my mouth so I understand how yucky they can be and feel for you

i like the blue pills, and yes it leaves a metallic taste in my mouth but it works better for me than the cheaper brand my new doctor prescribed for me.

if i do dispose the pills i don't use, im thinking of trashing it in a bag of dirty cat litter as advised on the internet.... so nobody will be tempted to take them.

as for wasting $5.00 it's still money that is wasted and could of went towards my preferred medication

can I make a suggestion.. Melatonin.. its a natural substance in your body already. .sometimes it just needs a little help. I use it for my son who occasionally has trouble with sleeping.. it helps you fall asleep naturally..as long as your a good sleeper once there these are great. and they are pretty cheap considering how many you get in a bottle.. they are OTC too no script needed. look in among the other bottles at SDM you'll see them there.

Don't throw away pills even in dirty cat litter! Take them to the drugstore, they will dispose of them safely. If you throw them away, they could get into our groundwater and contaminate it. We don't have alot of fresh water in spite of what people think.
