MBNA has a smart cash mastercard :

    • No annual fee
    • 5% cash back on all of your gas and grocery purchases for the first 6 months††
    • 3% cash back on gas and grocery purchases thereafter‡
    • And, you’ll always earn 1% cash back on all of your other qualifying net retail purchases‡

And if you go through Great Canadian Rebates, you get $60 cash back If you aren't setup with them already, I'd love to give you a referral link. Or you can just google them

I use the PC mastercard but then I pay it off with the options canadian tire so I get rewards from that as well without spending anything else. I also run all the bills I can through the CT cards as well like house taxes and gas bill for a bit extra. Double dip. :D

Thats all great as long as your are also paying off the CT credit card every month as well. If you are not, you would actually be losing money due to the high interest rate on the card.

Any of the "Reward" cards have an insanely high interest rate. I too, use my Shoppers Optimum MC, and my PC MC and so on, but since every one is paid in full every month, I am actually earning money.

These companies like a person to think "I got $$$ in free groceries, or $$$ in free CT money" BUT if you are carring a balance on any of these types of cards from month to month, you are not making a dime. In fact it is costing you a whole lot more than it should for your FREE things.
