AWESOME!!!!! Love that airmiles cash option!! Too funny though watching the staff trying to figure it out!!!
My freezer is holding many bags of their frozen fruit, DH loves the blueberries best! Way to go!!
Yes great deal on the frozen fruit... Just made a smoothie for dd and myself with the fruit essentials plum, papaya, strawberry mix.... delicious!!
great job. It seems that is everybodies favorite frozen fruit. I'm still looking for a deal out west here, but hopefully soon.
they are only 4.99 at sdm here in alberta but i wont complain for 3.00 a bag as they sell reg 7-8 so still doing the happy dance at my savings :)
Out west they go on sale once every couple months at Thrifty foods for $4 and at Shoppers they go on once a monthish for $4.50, but never for $2.88! What a great deal :)
When the frozen Fruit Essentials were on sale for two weeks at Food Basics (part of the Metro chain) for $2.74, I went on two recycling walks to get around 36 coupon booklets and therefore 36 - $2 Fruit Essentials coupons.
I checked in with the managers at two Food Basics locations before I bought 21 bags at one store ( they had just gotten 22 boxes delivered) and about 12 bags at the other location on a different day.
Normal price: $5.99 Sale $2.74 - $2 coupon = $0.74 each (no tax)
My upright freezer is bulging!!!!!
I saved back a few coupons for future sales.
greencanuck <---- very very fruity
(greencanuck paws through the upright freezer in 30C heat)
(in echoing voice from head in freezer)
"I can definitely see a few of the Berry Cherry !"
To be honest, other than getting an assortment of flavours- I was fairly non-descriminate in what I took from each store.
It was about 5 flavours from each.
I was just so grateful to get them that I was not fussy about which ones.
To add to the story:
I am disabled and ride an adaptive trike.
All of those frozen fruits had to get about 7-8km home in 22-25C heat on a bike!!
The short version would be to say that I used several medium freezer packs, cooler bags, packed those frozen fruit tight to each other ( mass cooling) and rode home fast and direct.
Upon arrival at home, they seemed as frozen as from the store freezer !
At the time of those sales, both Food Basics had about 10- 11 varieties of frozen fruit.
Since the coupon was for "Fruit Essentials" I focused on those varieties ( about 5-6 types)
Plus; I freeze my own fruit on sale, so I have lots of plain frozen fruits ( ie strawberries, blueberries, grapes, etc)
As bad as it was for energy-efficiency.....
.....on a hot day (30C), standing in front of an upright freezer pawing through frozen fruit is a minute of pure bliss!!!
I have been car-free for just under 15 years.
