Harper has no voice in Quebec, no one here voted for him so he doesn't care what goes on.
His interference would only make things 10 times worse anyways.

Whether anyone voted for him in Quebec and whatever Harpers feelings on Quebec are (which most are aware of) Quebec is still a province within Canada and Harper is the Prime Minister of Canada therefore he would have say in what happens in Quebec. I don't mean in jumping in and touching the tuition issue but rather of restoring peace that those living there feel they no longer have.
It's kind of like those that say the student unions are only condoning the violent behaviour of some by not speaking out against it, well I feel the same about Harper. By sitting by and watching a Province deal with what some are describing as 100 days of violence and not do something about speaks volumes. Kinda like the silence is deafening.

And if he did get involved, we would hear that he has no right because these are provincial issues.
Here are some of the Provincial rights that correspond to this issue:
- property and civil rights,
- administration of justice,
- education,
- health.
Federal responsibilities include:
- defence,
- criminal law (federal),
- employment insurance,
- postal service,
- census,
- copyrights,
- trade regulation,
- external relations,
- money and banking,
- transportation,
- citizenship, and
- Indian affairs.
Also, I'm not a Harper fan. However, until the Federal Government is asked for aid from the the Quebec Government, then I feel the Federal Government should not get involved.Last edited by K8's Fate; Sat, May 26th, 2012 at 05:43 PM.

Your tuition sounds so good compared to what it is now! Then again minimum wage was way lower so I guess it is about in line with what we pay now. I am a part time student and my tuition is roughly $5000/year. I didn't qualify for OSAP since I have been working since I was 16, and they decided I had too much in savings even though it was barely enough to cover my first year. I worked for almost 3 years before deciding to do the whole school thing. My sister goes full time and her tuition is roughly $10,000/year. She gets OSAP though since she didn't have any jobs in high school and had very little savings.
I will hopefully be able to graduate debt free since I only have a year left (and summer school next year). It's taking me twice as long to graduate but it's the only way I can afford to go to school. I'm hoping to move though and I will probably need to work two jobs since the cost of living in Toronto is so high. Luckily I have modeling income and I can pick up jobs at $50-$100 an hour. That's if I can book enough work to avoid needing the second job! If not I will just beg for more hours haha! I've been saving every last penny for the last few years that I have been living at home, so I have at least enough money to cover my last year of school. I just need to worry about living expenses which scares me a bit, but I know lots of people that manage so hopefully I should be okay.
You have it so good if that is all you pay for rent! Try $10,800 a year plus all other bills on top of that. Yeah it majorly sucks but that is the cheapest rent available where my school is unless I want to live in an illegal rooming house. My sister lives with 5 other people and pays more then that a year for rent!
It's also VERY hurtful to those who are German since it's like grouping us all into one category. It's disrespectful.
Anyway...at the end of the day I am always thankful to be Canadian at least. I'm not growing up and living in a place that doesn't accept or appreciate women. I don't live in constant fear. I'm not suppressed and forced into arranged marriages/forced to stay indoors or need an escort to be in public, and I have the freedom to do and say what I want within reason without having to worry about being tortured/executed for having an opinion that doesn't match the governments.Last edited by roseofblack25; Sat, May 26th, 2012 at 08:27 PM.

I make no apologies for my statement. It is never my intention to hurt anyone and my Uncle, yes my Uncle who just passed away fought in WWII WITH the Nazis, so I'm very well aware of what took place aside from the history lessons I learned in school like everyone else.
Having said that, the Gestapo stopped vehicles for no reason and demanded people identify themselves, which is exactly why I made the comparison of the bus being stopped and ID being demanded for no reason by the SQ.Last edited by TaraF; Sat, May 26th, 2012 at 09:20 PM.
