Ive been curious about Pepsi Next since it first came out the USA.

However I have no interest in reading about the dangers of Aspartame. Otherwise I'll have to make myself another tinfoil hat again. I'm diabetic. So basically your saying kill myself with real sugar or fake sugar.

Sally...more and more products are using other types of sweeteners now....and yes, we all know they're all bad for us, but I happen to use Sweet'nLow in my coffee and tea, and won't stop. I found the Nestea drink mixes without aspartame...they use Splenda..so if you have to use artificial sweeteners, perhaps that one would be better?

    Nope. . . just don't drink pop. . . seems like a logical choice.

Moderation in everything is the key...especially non-healthy treat foods/drinks.

one soda every couple of months is not going to affect my health, too much. 7 a day will...

Some of these new sweeteners don't have enough research.

Absolutely, Pepsi is addictive: it has caffeine and if you quit suddenly you get caffeine withdrawal. It's super high in sugars, and those sugars give you a little high in your brain by raising dopamine levels, making your brain want to experience it again. It's like a weak, psychoactive drug. No wonder it is so hard to break the habit! Been there!

In my eating disorder therapy, rule #1 is no "diet" foods. We're taught to eat full fat salad dressings, regular pop and so forth. I have not heard a single medical professional say anything at all positive about sweeteners. We weren't even allowed to bring a diet pop in the building.

The next step for me was to start substituting for the worst foods. If you drink 24 cans of regular Pepsi over a month, or 12 x 710 ml bottles, you're taking in over 3,500 calories, the amount of calories you need to make 1 lb of fat. At this rate, I could build 12 lbs of bacon on my body a year, entirely due to Pepsi. Thus, tea (and may I say thank God for the Colgate optic white coupons, because everything has it's drawbacks.) Tea is cheap and healthy though.

Try taking a monthly perspective and check out the size of your monthly Pepsi habit. The next month, buy one package less and run out of it if you have to. I try to tackle one or two things a month in some small way. It does pay off, I promise!
Excellent advice Lecale. There's many bad habits that could be overcome the same way. . . .
