thanks for sharing.
that is so cool! I must be super smart!
Boo-urn! The pic is to small to read on my phone!!
Ive seen this before, always thought it was pretty cool!
.
this is because after we learn to read we don't actually read by sounding out the letters anymore. we read by seeing a group of letters and accessing our little database in our heads and understanding what the word is supposed to be because we have read and understood that word so many times before.
i think those "your baby can read" games you see infomercials on use the same idea. repeat and display a word so many times that a toddler sees it and recognizes it when they see it again. they aren't reading by sounding it out, they are simply recognizing and repeating.
i think that is why sometimes when you glance at a word and your brain thinks it read something else and you do a double take because that word grouping didn't make sense, it is the same phenom.
i like how the pic shows just how weird you can get with groupings of letters and still have our brains process and make sense of what it is seeing instantly :)
your 7 yr old sister isn't not-smart... she just hasn't built her vocab and had as much experience reading as you. give her a few years and she'll be skimming thru it just as easily :)
Cool, thanks for sharing. No wonder it's hard to see typos until after posting :icon_cyclops:
Very neat! I was reading along, thinking I was going to come to a word that I wouldn't recognize, which would render me not-smart. Didn't happen. I'll be passing this along...thanks!
Thanks for sharing, will pass it on to more friends

Tested it out with my 12 year old girl - she flew through it. Little miss smartypants. :-)
