I was thinking this. I am trying to look at it from the eyes of an investigator who will ultimately ask that question but I'm coming up empty handed. Granted my Mafia knowledge isn't the best but I'd be interested in knowing if there is any "meaning" behind mailing a human foot to someone.

Can you imagine being the staff member responsible for opening the mail/packages?And seeing this?!?

Imagine all the Canada Post workers that have handled the package and didn't know the contents!!! That's just creepy as all hell!

edit: Was the package actually opened? or is there some sort of scanner they all go through at the building before being opened there? It sounds like no one actually opened the package just that it was scanned and appeared to have a foot in it.

Imagine the poor man that opened the suitcase to find this? He apparently was investigating a horrible smell and he saw maggots

Apparently the receptionist saw the package looked suspicious before opening it. It looked like it was bloodstained, so she immediately called for help. Apparently the foot was decomposing and stinky as well. The hazmat team x-rayed it on site and by then they knew something foul was afoot.

That was my first thought...the smell and decomposition.
