This can be done with green onions, celery, garlic etc

Instead of throwing away your lettuce head cut off leaves at the head so that the head stays intact and place the stump in a bowl with about ½" of water and put it on a windowsill.

You'll start to see new leaves, and they'll be full grown in 3 to 4 weeks.

    Avoiding food waste!

Started pulling all my weeds out here in Vancouver today. We moved into our current house in July of last year so we didn't get around to planting. BUT THIS YEAR, let me tell you I am planting my little heart out. Unfortunately the yard and garden plots were very poorly maintained by the last tenants, so I have my work cut out for me.

    Yay for early warm weather!

We got frost last night, which is the first frost we've had in a while. But I still pulled all those extremely deep rooted weeds today. I can actually see the dirt now!

I have killed any plant I've ever owned

But I soooo wanna grow some peppers or carrots or tomatoes.. and other veggies this summer. I have a concrete backyard (live in a townhouse) and most of the yard is taken up by the kids summer stuff and our bbq.

From the research I've done, I have basically two options. Raised bed or clay pots. If anyone has any step by step instructions for me on how not to epically fail, I'd be so thankful.

There's also a lot of skunks, squirrels and raccoons in the area - are any of these guys gonna be giving me trouble with my plants?
