Thread: What's blooming in your yard?
-

Feeling hot, hot , hot...I was at Costco on the weekend, and quite a few customers had fans in their carts!
My Jackman clematis is just starting its show...It bloomed until frost last year!
Last picture is a zinnia I have growing in the front yard. The slugs like my zinnias last year, so I am hoping this location is better than in the back yard.

New baskets on the wall, $5 EACH on clearance at WM. FLowers full price at the nursery $3 each but next year I will put impatiens in them because it doesn't get enough sun there. If you look between the hostas I snuk in a couple of Blue Angel clematis

You got a great deal on those planters, Patty. They look great, and your begonias are incredible!

What an intense pink, BC Gal! Love the bleeding heart picture, I'd be tempted to make an enlargement and use it for decoration.

Thanks The first time I saw a bleeding heart was just a couple years ago; I couldn`t believe how perfect the hearts were and had to get one. It a great plant, especially since it can be hard to find shade loving perennials that bloom so well.

I think the fern leafed bleeding hearts bloom all season...the regular ones usually go dormant with the heat.
It's been so hot this past few days, but the plants love it!
Here are a few in bloom today:
Blue Delphinium...comes back every year, although some people say they are short-lived.
Next is Madame Julia Correvon clematis. I should really get a taller lattice for it...it's scrambling all over the place.
Then there's White Pixels Asiatic lilies.
Last is a bonus...this is a clivia that is blooming indoors...normally it doesn't bloom at this time.

I could SCREEEEEAM, in fact I did let out a scream in the garden.
The local squirrels chewed the head (which was about to blossom) right off my sunflower, urrgh. Apparently birdseed and peanut butter & crackers isn't enough for them. This is a large seeded tall sunflower..... I'm guessing that's the end of her ? She won't magically grow another head ?
(Sorry no pic, lent my camera for the next 2 weeks.)
ETA: Based on this blog post, looks like there's hope for another blossom.... maybeLast edited by Tbites; Thu, Jul 12th, 2012 at 08:46 AM.
