I've already cut the cuke plants to stumps (last week) and also wrangled most of the tomato runners. The nighttime temps are low enough for frost potentially overnight. Yes, I got an earful from Mom but she has not been in the garden lately...and tomorrow is yard waste collection day too.
Many of the earliest bulbs that we planted last year in our new large flower bed have sprouted and flowered!! I think these white ones are crocuses? Sorry I cannot add a photo...no cell phone. Also along the new walkway the green heads of the tulips are all up, gosh i THINK those are tulips.....ha ha
During this pandemic mess. Cannibus.
Scilla and two small clumps of crocuses (probably won't make it overnight if rain's heavy) and some grape hyacinths sheltered under the roof overhang. Two daffodil buds yet to open--on the verge. Double peony bush has buds growing...expect brief glory in May if weather warms by then. Tulips are on stand by as they are growing their leaves 6inches or more.

Back story..Bought this tree Peony Shimanishiki end of season2018 at my local Walmart dirt cheap. Didn't know anything about it but trying to build up my garden in a budget friendly way. Last summer it grew but no blooms. I wondered if it would grow too big bcuz I had dug out a willow plant that grew too big.I swore if there were no blooms I would've have dug it out..Anyhoo, it's spring and we can see what a week makes..a week ago it had closed blossoms waiting to bloom; last night when I went to water the grass,I noticed one bulb was opened...others that were closed this morning(when I took this pic) or partially opened are now in full bloom (6 hrs later)...wohooo.
All my flowering trees and bushes are finally blooming-so I cut a branch of each and brought them in and made q bouquet for the dining table.
Hello fellow gardeners! What a crazy year it is. We are on our 3rd heat wave of the summer and are in a drought situation here. I have had some flowers literally burn to death lol . Oh well climate change I hear you and will have to learn to plant accordingly . Good news is I can get even more tropical type plants which I love. Will have to say goodbye to petunias, pansies and some begonias as they just can't cope. Here are some pics. from a week ago or so.
Yes I have banana plants this year.

I will try to take some more recent ones. We are finally getting some rain today after about 3 weeks with none.
I am growing an Asian Pigeonwings flower in my backyard. I am using the flowers for herbal treatment since you can use the flower to be mix with tea and the taste is great!
My yards have so many flowers like Rose, jasmine, tulip, lavender and many fruits peaches, berries and tomatoes. I love plants. I am Rout Lita working in a digital marketing agency in Dubai.

I came into this thread so excited to post a collage of just the front pathway, ( of the flowerbeds, pots ) where I had snapped some photos sometime in May or June but Walmart's photo kiosk's were down for the covid, so no developing them till today.
What did I do first?
I searched back and viewed @Patty Smyth gorgeous Jungle of amazing flowers galore! Then I felt silly about mine.
I suppose size does matter....bwahahaha!!!

( included in the collage are a large barrel of out of control morning glories, trays of baby lettuces, a blue barrel with zucchini,
2 smaller tubs with bok choy, a rouge sunflower that hasn't flowered just yet, we suspect a squirrel buried a seed into one of the barrels and various annuals in full bloom.
the Saskatoon berries are ripe.

Good day @Patty Smyth !! OMG, absolutely glorious eye candy for nature lovers/gardeners. That video of the hummingbird moth was something I never even knew existed!

Same here, 1st time seeing a hummingbird moth. Apparently they are from the hornworm caterpillar which apparently can decimate tomato plants overnight. I guess in that sense I am lucky I never saw one before lol
[QUOTE=Patty Smyth;7080275] <br>
Hello, @Patty Smyth , I just visited your page and OMGOSH!! Your tropical gardens! You could charge money to see those plants!! I asked there what zone you're in....I'm guessing 6? :)Have you tried grapes? Palm tree? If anyone can do it, you can! And that hummingbird moth...it's so beautiful, and I'm glad it didn't decimate any of your plants.
Absolutely glorious, as always @Patty Smyth
How do you get your banana plants so HUGE??
Before and after. Dragon Wing Begonias in the red planters and 3 Big Begonias(yes that is their common name, kind of obvious lol) in the black planter
Planted May 20th

I grow a variety of flowers, and so in the open ground, and in flowerpots. I grow lilies and begonias in flowerpots. There are a couple of magnolias, which are outside in the warm season, and when it gets colder, I move them into the house. Juniper bushes grow on the territory. Orchids and indoor roses in the house on the windowsills. I love plants:-)
Fall bulb deals are showing up in hardware store ads now. Keep tabs on the tulips or daffodils or whatnot you seek--soon, they'll need to be planted for spring glory next year!
I still dream of planting hyacinths. How do they care? I heard there are difficulties. Can you tell me how to choose bulbs? I want to buy several varieties at once for the spring. I love their smell!
Almost the last hurrah, fall is in the air for sure.

I bought a Cleopatra canna lily this year as well @Patty Smyth
Mine didn't get as tall as yours but I was impressed with the foliage
If it didn't bloom, I don't think I would have been too disappointed
The blooms were just a bonus for me
Our apple tree exploded with blossoms today, which we love and enjoy immensely. However, this means all Spring and Summer we'll be picking up apples off the lawn and driveway. Roses have thorns, always a downside to the beauty of nature eh?
