What's blooming in your yard?

I currently have green onions, red rhubarb, and red tulips growing. I've already been weeding the rest of the garden.

If you despise your neighbors and you share a fence with them, then all you have to do to piss them off for years to come is one simple thing: plant lily of the valley. They should be outlawed. A scourge, they are! I don't know if it was the current neighbors or the previous ones that did the planting... either way, DAMN YOU!!

I shall start digging today.

Miss Hyacinth or one of her kind has bloomed in the front flowerbed. Tulips remain hedging their blooms but I felt better noticing that the Central Library in Burlington has a round bed of tulips that have not opened yet (two or three flowers showed a bit of colour through closed bulbs).

I didn't think my neighbours despised me but maybe they do. On one side, our neighbours lily of the valley has creeped over into the tile in our walkway. In between the tile is one of the worst places to grow!! On the other side, our neighbour's son runs over our hostas every week with their massive garbage, organic, and recycling bins. They've stopped growing since they've moved in. I tried to block the bins with big blocks of lumber, but they're always kicked aside.

In the back, some purple flowering groundcover chokes out my peonies and roses. We've also inherited some English ivy that's rooted itself between the fencing, and the creme de la creme, coltsfoot - listed as a known noxious weed on the provincial government website. It took three years of hours and hours of digging to get them out.

I also seem to have inherited daylilies and tiger lilies. I mentioned them to the neighbour once and she said "you're welcome". Apparently, they're a gift.

I managed to dig some of the lily-of-the-valley out yesterday but the ground is still too mucky. And it rained again today. It's a challenging spot also because it's right underneath a red twig dogwood, so I've got those roots to contend with, plus there's a [finally] well-established plant that I don't want to disturb. I moved around the three heuchera to get to the scourge, not concerned about those because if they die, they're easily replaceable. Darned if I can remember the name of the plant that I'm coddling there though.

right now at the front of my house are daffodils, tulips & blue bells?...i think thats the name. i wish they would last longer. i have 2clematis vines but am never sure if i should cut back the dead vines from previous yr?

It depends on the kind of clematis you have, @Linda Evans . I chop mine back hard, leaving about twelve inches from the ground and they never fail to come back every year. This year I was rather late in cutting them back - you don't really want to do it once they've got leaves on the previous years growth, but I did just that. We'll see how it turns out. Too bad Patty doesn't post here anymore... the clematis plants in her yard are ridiculous every year.
