Omg!! (do not join Opinion Square)

I was on Boomertowne, and one of the regulars (adlibcorner or something like that) posted his website for online surveys


One of the sites he/she posted was for OPINION SQUARE. I signed up and it asked for me to download their program and I did. Almost immediately Norton detected a Spyware. and then another Norton alert popped up asking if I would like to allow or reject connection to all ports for this program: OPNSQ.exe (opinion square), so I clicked allow.

Immediately my computer froze and upon restarting, I was no longer able to connect to the internet on that PC.

I tried to remove OPINION SQUARE program at once from the Start -> all programs, but the it told me to remove it from Control Panel --> add/remove programs !!

I tried that but it would freeze on me upon clicking 'change/remove'.



I actually contacted the person 'adlibcorner' through the Boomertowne chat room regarding this (I was trying to bring to their attention if they didn't already know) and received an alert saying he/she closed the window (no reply). Then the person said in the chat room that he/she was watching a movie and is leaving the chatroom. Made me really pissed. :shock:

Just finished restarting a second time and to my surprise, it's gone from the program list and the PC can connect to the internet again now.

So relieved. :excited:


Anyway, don't sign up for OPINION SQUARE. Had no idea these companies would put spyware on your computer that would affect the Internet capability as well. Evil evil companies. :evil:

Thanks for the heads up. I almost signed up for Opinion Square, but stopped as soon as they said I had to download their software. Glad to see I made the right decision.

because they make money by collecting information such as what websites you visit and pass it along to other companies and also use it to target sales towards you

THANKYOU thankyou for the warning....... may i suggest you change the title to include the words warning it would get way more people to read it...my oldest son told me not to download anything with his permission or he'll take my laptop away...lol....so glad you are up and running again

I downloaded the software for opinion square, when I did the offer through moola, deleted it after and blocked all conections through my firewall. No problems after :-)

I stupidly signed up for opinion square it downloaded spyware on my computer and is almost impossible to get rid of then somehow avg virus control was on the computer cause it slips by that.Thankfully I have a friend who does logmein and it took him two days to fix it.So beware don't even think about downloading it to your computer.I almost lost everything and would have had to have gotten a new computer.
