Compare the price before purchase online eyeglasses
I know now it is very popular to buy eyeglasses online, but I really want to tell everyone compare the price before make the final purchase! Now I provide 2 different examples for SAME frame, SAME Lens, SAME Rx and same address, you can see the price can be huge different!!
All the eyeglasses in sample order as "-4.00" in both eyes, FREE lens and no coating required. And use the coupon code they provide in site.
Example one:
This is the frame called "Ltede 1022 Gun/Silver"
In Clearly Contacts
http://www.clearlycontacts.ca/glasse...prod21041.html
they ask for $78 , but they provide the coupon code "SUMMERSAVE" for $50 off.
So after $50 off and included Shipping and Insurance, total cost: $43.37
The Same frame in Coastal Contacts...
http://www.coastal.com/glasses/frame...prod21041.html
they ask for $78 , but they provide the coupon code "SUMMERSALE" for 50% off.
So after 50% off and included Shipping and Insurance, total cost: $54.37
In Lensway.com
www.lensway.com/glasses/frames/ltede-1022-gun-silver/prod21041.htm
They ask for $50, no coupon code
Attachment 120608
after Shipping and Insurance, total cost: $62.45
HOWEVER.....
In justeyewear.com
http://www.justeyewear.com/style/men...un-silver.html
THEY ONLY ASK FOR $19, no coupon code required!!!!
after Shipping and Insurance, total cost: $31.95
So this is the summary for each company selling price:
Clearly Contacts: $43.37
Coastal Contacts: $54.37
Lensway: $62.45
Justeyewear: $31.95!!
Some people will think the price is different because of the competitions, but the ironic is, ALL COMPANIES I MENTIONED ABOVE are coming from same parent company : Coastal Contacts!! You can search the information in Wiki they all are sister companies!!
So... next time, when u purchase eyeglasses, PLEASE search all their companies site!!
why I said that because in different eyeglasses, they have different prices!
This is example 2!
Ralph Lauren 6051 5017 Yellow Havana
in Clearly Contacts:
http://www.clearlycontacts.ca/glasse...prod22213.html
$148.00 with $50 off (Coupon Code "SUMMERSAVE") = $98
Coastal Contacts:
www.coastal.com/glasses/frames/ralph-lauren-6051-5017-yellow-havana/prod22213.html
$128 with 50% off (Coupon Code "SUMMERSALE")= $64
Lensway:
http://www.lensway.com/glasses/frame...prod22213.html
No Coupon Required, $50 only
This is my research... so make sure next time check the price before purchase! (Coz they ship from same warehouse anyways, quality is the same!!)This thread is currently associated with: ClearlyContacts.caLast edited by ahhc; Mon, Jun 4th, 2012 at 10:38 PM.

Thank you for the information you provided. Very informative. I had no idea. I've been tempted to buy online in the past but didn't know if they were worth it or not. Thanks again.

Try Firmoo (www.firmoo.com) too, they are nice, and cheaper than Zenni because 2 pairs or more get FREE S&H to Canada :D (the cheapest in Firmoo is $8 + $2.95 AR coating), so 2 pairs for $22 included S&H

Which company is not worth it for you?
QUOTE=ahhc;4740428]Lucky777,
You are welcome, I am addicted to buy eyeglasses, and I shopped almost ALL online optical stores.... In general, I can say most of them are OK, only 1 company not really worth in my experience[/QUOTE]

Plus, don't forget to just ask them to price match. I know clearly does as long as you give them the website address.

This is wonderful! Thank you so much! I've ordered from Clearly Contacts before but didn't realize they had 'sister' companies. Will definitely check them out!

holy moly! i never realized the price difference, and honestly i might have steered clear of the other companies not realizing they are sister companies.
thanks for this info! if i walk into lencrafters and buy mid priced frames, my total cost still comes to over $450. i have really bad eyes and no insurance
i got my last glasses with the free promo from clearly, about a year ago i think. i got to upgrade to the thinnest lenses, which was quite a luxury for me, and the total was $168. i was ecstatic about that price! haha
honestly i had been avoiding this thread because i thought it might be an ad of some kind. forgive meIn 2020 I had 100 FREE Grocery pickups! Subscribe to PC Optimum Insiders & get 25,000 PC Optimum pts

The retail physical stores are such a rip off. They will try to sell you a 10 dollar frame for 300 bucks . The markup these guys have on their lenses and frames is more than the markup drug dealers have on drugs.
I wish more people would buy lenses and frames online just to teach these guys a lesson . its safe, easy and convenient.
Don't believe the scare mongering and fear mongering by these retail locations where they will tell you not to buy online as they only want to protect their own business and margins and they don't care about you. They will tell you that if you buy online you will damage your eyes, you won't get the proper glasses ..yada yada ..none of this is true.
Lot of these optometrists and opticians are nothing but glorified salespeople trying to rip you off as most of their profits come from the overpriced glasses they sell you and not from the eye exams etc.
Visit an opthalmologist if you can , get your eyes throroughly checked and then buy your glasses online for a fraction of the cost instead of going to these crooks and buying your glasses.

Thanks for the info everyone! I've been looking at getting glasses online but the only thing I'm weary about is how they'll fit....and I've heard that even a mm difference in measuring your pupil distance can make a huge difference. How have people gotten the information for pupil distance? And then has anyone had issues that the glasses are too loose or too tight?

Thanks so much! I am also addicted to ordering glasses online, and haven't heard of all of the companies above! Will be sure to check them all out in the future!
Keep Smiling!
