I saw a snowy owl! It's the first time I've ever seen an animal that usually lives in the Arctic, I was very excited.
A friend who likes birding took me on a nature walk, and we also saw: blue herons, a flock of snow geese, various ducks, a red tailed hawk, grebes and red-winged blackbirds. It so much more fun to walk around with someone who knows the names of things!

I've had blue Jay and Cardinal pairs all winter. Have a woodpecker and chickadees too. Two days ago saw a Starling for the first time this year. Starting to hear spring bird sounds.

I hear noises, but I don't see them. They are hiding in the tall shrubs.
But, there were two flies sunning themselves on my car at lunch time. So, it must be Spring.

Darn grackles! They're pigs at the feeder, they're bullies, and they sound like screetchy gates. Last night they were squawking after dark. I can't wait till they leave again but they're here for quite a while.

Oh did I ever catch a lucky break. They cruised by just before the blue hour started
Breeding pairs! I say that because they were dancing.
