Total Guard - The Bay warantee - anyone?
Wondering if any of you have the Total Guard warantee on furniture you purchased from the Bay?
I have this 5 year warantee on my living room set and a seem on the chair is coming apart. I just called and they said I had to report it within 14 days of seeing it. It's been like that for years but my warantee is running out so I thought I would call now!
Wondering if anyone else has experience with this insurance. Now my claim is pointless cause they won't even send someone to look at it. I can however claim something else on the furniture but I don't know what's covered...
Thoughts?

We just purchased a mattress, from the bay and in addition this same warranty. Here is the link that allows you to read the fine print. http://w2.assurant.com/zellerstotalguard/terms.htm
unfortunately the reporting within 14 days is noted here. However this should be a 10 year plan that you have and it covers many other types of incident ie; Stains from food & drink if they cannot be removed by The Bay's assigned cleaning contractor. Same to report ithin 14 days.
Hope this helps:redface:
Total Guard - the Bay warantee anyone?
The Total guard Insurance policy isn't worth the paper it's written on! One year ago I bought a dining room suite and paid $300 for the Total Guard Policy. In November I was sad to see that two faded circles were appearing on the table top. The company sent out a technician who confirmed that these were heat marks, but that they were covered under the policy. They couldn't get anyone to fix the table top, however, for less than the cost of replacing it. Since then I have made 15 calls to the Total guard headquarters, and each time they SWEAR they will get back to me. They repeatedly assured me that my table was covered for this damage. Three weeks ago they sent out a "technician" who applied some furniture polish! Now they have changed their phone number, and the newest one is a chore to track down. Finally, I got someone who told me that my claim had been disallowed because I hadn't reported the damage within 14 days!!! This is a clear-cut case of fraud. What recourse do I have? What protection is there under the law? I was told by the sales clerk who sold the furniture to me that what I MUST do is write a letter to the manager of The Bay Store in Vancouver if I want to see results.
