Dollarama shareholders like the $3 news... to the tune of driving up the share price by 6% today alone!

Bad move by Dollarama. I don't shop there as much as I used to...and I'm talking from going several times to maybe only twice a year! Won't be long before EFADS follows suit...oh no wait, they changed their name to EFADAM or something rofl

Well i think that sucks.
I'll think a little more whether i really need the thing for $3 than i would have if it was a buck, and while im at it, i'll think about whether i really need the stuff i grabbed for a dollar too. So overall i will likely buy less. Bad move dollarama.
I used to love them back when i didnt coupon. Now some things are a bad deal since we can do better with coupons.

I read recently that price increases in NA are because wages in China have been increasing (for two reasons, 1) to create a consumer society there too, and 2) protests for higher wages). Walmart supports the first 'reason', because they want Walmart China to explode, and it can't if the Chinese do not have a disposable income (a convoluted issue simplified).
But in all honesty, since I really just...stopped spending money on things, I really don't know how people do it so much. There's things we need regularly (cleaning supplies, etc), but the junk they sell? no thanks.

I shop there only when I want something I am sure I will find and for general things like paper enveloppe and pencils for examples

I'm undecided whether it's a good or bad thing. When they started stocking $2 items it wasn't too bad, as they kept most of their $1 stock and just added better quality items for $2. I would expect they would do the same with the $3 items. However, as someone else said, doing this might make people think of it less as a "dollar store" and more as a "bargain store" or some such thing. I don't know...I'm not sure how it will affect their business. Personally, I will still shop there, as I still find a lot of items (mostly activity books and craft items) that are cheaper then anywhere else. As long as that continues, I will still shop there. But unless they expand, they're going to have to replace the cheaper items to make room for the $3 stuff, and that concerns me.

i think its pretty decent....provided they add more decent things for $3. I hardly go in there, but its mainly because the dollarama near where I work is always sooooo insanely busy its just a PITA to go into, and most of the others in town are in weird far out places... However I was in one the other night (we just bought a house and there's one down the street now) and was really shocked on the amount of $2 product I could actually get though. My mom got these really pretty wind chimes (if you'd call them that) made out of clay (or some type of stone) and they were awesome!

I stay away from Dollarama.
I try to shop at the local dollar stores...i hate giving money to this massive franchise. I like the family oriented dollar stores.
Never again will they get my loonie plus toonie = $3 ha!
