I went shopping with my db to day. He is disabled (CP) and since our mother passed away last summer, he has been living on his own trying to make ends meet on his disability pension. He is lactose intolerant and the store that he shops at carries Natrel Lactose Free milk. (Zellers) (Hughly expensive - but it's either that or Lactaid which is also expensive.) Due to some trains I was just on, I was able to get a .75 off coupon for Natrel and I also had a free Protein Bar coupon. He also needed cereal so he picked - I think Cheerios which were fairly expensive (and I didn't have coups) but they have a free Oasis smoothie coup inside. So he got a little treat and a couple of necessities for less than he might have paid.
My mother used to sell Coppercraft years and years ago. She had oodles of it many of which were awards that she earned as a regional manager - I swear, my mother could sell ANY kind of product and convince other people they could be great at it too. (She used to be an Avon Lady which explains my getting into it.)
Well, since db has moved into a smaller apartment - there was no room for all the copper decorative stuff. We bundled it all up today and took it to a local scrap metal recycler and he made $55 on things he might otherwise have given away. He's putting the money into his "vacation savings" drawer as he is a Kinsman and would like to go to their National Convention this year.
So he's ahead a little today!

Tell your DB "Way to go"! Recycling is a great way to earn a few dollars and turn your unwanted items into something useful.
Even a little bit of couponing is a good start to paying less and getting more. You're a good sister!

Thanks, folks! I'm 10 years older than him and 18 years older than my other brother. Sometimes I have to resist the "mom" kind of help.

avon... got a wee choked up reading your sweet post about your DB, with the space in age between you I can understand how you feel the urge to mother him. ( my DS also has to drink that ridiculously expensive milk as well )
However, once I saw the word Coppercraft I laughed! I actually bought some of that stuff years ago. My sis was once a Tupperware dealer too, omg the tons of Tupperware we all bought to help her out.
So nice that he was able to add to his vacation savings, every little bit helps.
