I am a Network Marketer with Numis Network and I also purchase directly from the Canadian Mint.

Absolutely in LOVE with the Insects on flower series. Is it just me or does the Canadian Mint totally rock in creating unique coins?

I am a hobbiest coin collector. I have old coins and also international coins in two different binders. I just like coins in general I think, and I don't tend to care about the value of the coins themselves for right now

This is a great thread! Ever since I was younger, I would collect coins from my change and when abroad. A few weeks ago I found out my bf's mother and sister also collect coins too! Except they buy coins for the purpose of collecting, it's fun looking at them

I was wondering, how does everyone store their coins?

I have a coin storage binder and a regular binder with coin storage compartments. The best way is to go into a coin store and make friends with the guy commonly at the counter. They will appraise for free and teach you how to care for your coins. You should also think about where you store it, and whom you tell about it. I personally would never put my coins on display. If you were to ever be robbed....mostly robbers are desperate drug users. They just smash and grab...underwear drawer, jewelry box, TV unit etc in a 5 to 10 minute period before leaving. So store them it someplace not easily thought about...under the sink, inside a sweater you never wear, or perhaps near items of no value. Atleast I would do that for valuable coins. I hope this helps!

Thank you for your advice, mandolinatou! I'll have to look into getting an item to store my coins. Haha that's a great idea, it would be nice to be able to not have to pay for coin appraisals and the plus side is making a new friends. I'm not sure if there are any coin stored in my area but I could be wrong, another thing for me to look into.... I try to hide them in what I think is a safe place but you're right, can never be too careful...

I would have to say my most favorite coin that I have is a Canadian penny from 1881.

    Additional information -

Coin mintages for individual coins appear to be slowly decreasing to not over saturate the mintages which is a good direction, however the appeal of the last few releases has waned a little.
Here's hoping for a happy 2015 to everyone for their personal lives and coin collecting.

+ no more Oh Canada sets (they got old after first year to be honest)
+ minimal set releases / some side releases e-mail hype with Canoe series
    - Nothing new; still coins regarding Beaver/Cougar etc.

    [Jan 27th Edit] -
+ Added details for new coin sets that were previously believed to be stand alone
+ Gold version of Enamel coin - also marked coin #2 for both versions
+ Sportfish, Legacy of the Nickel sets comes with subscription boxes
+ Majestic Animals come in a subscription with no box.
