I got invited to meet Harper at a rally in Sydney a few years back and missed the message. Still upset about that one. :(
I remember posting about it here in the long ago...

OTTAWA – The Liberals and Conservatives each won two federal byelections with the Brandon-Souris race coming down to the very last votes.
Conservative candidate Larry Maguire beat out Liberal contender Rolf Dinsdale by just 391 votes in Brandon-Souris and Tory candidate Ted Falk won in the other Manitoba byelection in Provencher.
The Liberals won in Quebec and Toronto with Emmanuel Dubourg winning in the Bourassa riding of Montreal and in the Toronto-Centre riding Liberal candidate Chrystia Freeland defeated NDP candidate Linda McQuaig.

It's funny that my riding is considered "safe liberal" because I am in the east end, all french. Coderre was popular here though and it's also the riding that got him in as mayor of Montreal. The bulk of his votes came from here and we are the most densely populated area in Montreal.
The only time in he last 20 years it went Bloq was when the drums were banging hard for separation and Coderre lost.
I wonder if there will be a recount in Brabdon Souris because the Libs had the lead early on in that one. Interesting.
Any thought on this one way or another ?

Mexican Government Releases Proof of E.T.’s and Ancient Space Travel
In what will soon be considered as the Holy Grail of extraterrestrial research, the Mexican government has released ancient documents proving the existence of E.T.’s once and for all.
Aw come on Dave, we need visitors, the earth is getting so boring :)
But the Lizard People are already here...

About 90 million Americans believe aliens exist. Some 66 million of us think aliens landed at Roswell in 1948. These are the things you learn when there's a lull in political news and pollsters get to ask whatever questions they want.
Update, October 31: We've figured out who the government reptilians are, using science.
Public Policy Polling has raised weird polls to an art form. During last year's presidential campaign, the firm earned a bit of a reputation for its unorthodox questions; for example, "If God exists, do you approve of its handling of natural disasters?"
Today PPP released the results of a national survey looking at common conspiracy theories. Broken down by topic and cross-referenced by political preference, the results will not inspire a lot of patriotism. If you need to defend your fellow countrymen, be sure to note that the margin of error is 2.8 percent.
While I don't like his party or his politics I can't see him stepping down over the senate scandal(don't want that psycho Baird in there either). So many lies though. It should prove to be interesting over the next little while.

John Ivison: As PM prepares for Israel trip, speculation abounds: Will he resign after he returns?
As Conservatives gathered to mark the start of the Christmas party season, it was curious how few were talking about the Senate.
That’s yesterday’s news. All the chatter was about the Prime Minister: Will he or won’t he? Step down, that is.
What the heck is going on?

efence officials have confirmed that military police are investigating the death of a member of the 3rd battalion, Royal 22e Regiment at CFBValcartier in Quebec.

Dufour said military police are investigating the soldier's death and that suicide is one possibility they are looking into.

"Who is prepared for death? Even when we go to war we try not to think about it ... It's always a surprise,"Dufour said.
He said that Lelièvre's family would be supported by the community, and that counselling and spiritual guidance would be provided to anyone who needs it.
"The family is not alone in this difficult time," he said.
^^Yeah, this is bad, 4 in one week. These men and women need our country's support. We sent them into battle and when they come home broken - even if the wounds aren't visible - they need all the help we can give them. I'm guessing this is something all the political parties would agree with. This would be a great opportunity for all 5 parties to throw politics aside for just a little while and work together to see that programs and funding are in place to give support to those brave soldiers who have experienced things nobody ever should. It would be nice to see the House of Commons act like grownups, just this once, because this is just so serious.
I know there are a few folks who feel strongly about restriciting guns for average citizens, and some who have the same opinion as me. So one year after the school shooting in CT, it will be interesting to see which laws worked and did not.
In NY, CA, MD, CO they passed very tough anti guns laws.
In about 12 states, they passed laws making it easier to hold a concealed weapon and obtain a permit to have a hand gun.
In 5 years it will be interesting to see what the gun crime rates are for each place. In 2008 when the supreme court removed the Washington DC hand gun law, that city saw a dramatic reduction in murders. We'll see who wins and who loses in the facts.
Yeah, Liberals, we citizens are still waiting for the payback of $40 million to the Canadian taxpayers....

Dec. 13, Fraud charges laid from sponsorship scandal -
A former Liberal party organizer and a close friend of former prime minister Jean Chretien has been charged in connection to a decade-old spending scandal that rocked the public’s confidence in federal politics and led to the rise of Stephen Harper’s Conservatives.
Jacques Corriveau, a former Liberal Party of Canada organizer who had previously been identified as a central figure in the sponsorship scandal, has been officially charged by the RCMP in an investigation that appears to have been ongoing since 2002.
The RCMP announced on Friday that they charged Corriveau, 80, with fraud on the government, forgery and laundering the proceeds of crime.
The charges stem from the decade-old sponsorship scandal, which damaged the credibility of the former Liberal government under former prime minister Paul Martin and his predecessor Jean Chretien. Corriveau is a former party organizer with close ties to Chretien.

Justin Trudeau's federal Liberals refused to comment on the charges against Corriveau.
A communications manager for the Liberals told CBC News on Friday, "We won’t be commenting on that topic."
