Anders Breivik's prison conditions "inhumane"
The Norwegian convicted of the massacre of 77 people last year has said he is being held in "inhumane" conditions.
Anders Behring Breivik complained in a letter to the prison service that his coffee is served cold, he does not have enough butter for his bread, and he is not allowed moisturiser.
Breivik is serving a minimum 21-year sentence for the bombings and shootings in Oslo and Utoeya island last July.
The Norwegian authorities have not commented on the letter.
However his lawyer has confirmed that the details of the 27-page document leaked to Norway's VG newspaper are authentic.

I highly doubt that there are worse detention facilities in Norway”Anders Breivik
Breivik is being held in almost complete isolation - 23 hours a day, he says - at Ila prison outside Oslo.
His cell includes three sections, one to sleep, one for study and a third for exercise - each measuring 8 sq m (86 sq ft).

George Entwistle(BBC director general) resigns
The BBC's director general, George Entwistle, has resigned in the wake of the Newsnight child abuse broadcast.
In a statement given outside New Broadcasting House, Mr Entwistle said: "I have decided that the honourable thing to do is to step down."
Earlier, Mr Entwistle said Newsnight's report, which led to Thatcher-era Tory Lord McAlpine being wrongly implicated, should not have been broadcast.
The broadcast covered cases of child abuse at north Wales care homes.
Mr Entwistle took up the post of director general on 17 September, and his sudden resignation makes him the shortest-ever serving BBC director general.
In his statement, he said: "In the light of the fact that the director general is also the editor in chief and ultimately responsible for all content, and in the light of the unacceptable journalistic standards of the Newsnight film broadcast on Friday 2 November, I have decided that the honourable thing to do is to step down from the post of director general."

The child abuse scandal mentioned is one of several being investigated following the ITV report on serial sexual abuse over several decades by BBC DJ and tv presenter Jimmy Savile.
Currently comic Freddie Starr and singer Gary Glitter have been arrested and questioned. There are some other names being bruited around in the blogsphere as possible suspects.

There's already a witch hunt...
David Cameron,Philip Schofield and mob justice in the age of the internet
Yesterday, I wrote about David Cameron, who was ambushed by Gordon the Gopher on national television and presented with a list of alleged paedophiles in the Conservative Party – a list he had gleaned off the internet "in about three minutes". I want to return to it in a bit more depth, particularly the problem of internet hysteria.
Cameron is not one of my favourite people, but his response was extremely wise and sensible. As the Paedofinder General Phillip Schofield brandished his list ("I saw a tweet saying that Goodie Proctor danced with the Devil!"), Mr Cameron simply said: "There is a danger, if we're not careful, that this could turn into a sort of witch-hunt, particularly against people who are gay, and I'm worried about the sort of thing you are doing right now – giving me a list of names that you've taken off the internet."

Intruder breaks in and steals Tower of London keys
The incident took place in the early hours of 6 November and the intruder got past the first gate, a spokeswoman for the Historic Royal Palaces said.
Keys for a restaurant, conference rooms and an internal lock to the drawbridges were on the stolen set. The locks have now been changed.
Security was not up to "the expected standards", the spokeswoman said.
The Tower, which houses the Crown Jewels, is guarded by the Yeoman Warders or Beefeaters.
The Crown Jewels were not at risk and "at no point was the security of the Tower at risk", the spokeswoman added.
The spokeswoman for the Historic Royal Palaces said the intruder was found on site by security guards, but refused to reveal further details.
The Metropolitan Police said no arrests had been made as yet.

Women bishops: Church of England General Synod votes against
The general synod of the Church of England has voted narrowly against the appointment of women as bishops.
The measure was passed by the synod's houses of bishops and clergy but was rejected by the House of Laity.
Supporters vowed to continue their campaign but it could be five years before a similar vote can be held.
Controversy had centred on the provisions for parishes opposed to women bishops to request supervision by a stand-in male bishop.

Mumbai attack gunman Ajmal Qasab executed
Mohammad Ajmal Amir Qasab, the sole surviving gunman in the 2008 Mumbai attacks, has been hanged.
The Pakistani national's plea for mercy to Indian President Pranab Mukherjee was rejected earlier this month.
He was executed in prison in Pune early on Wednesday, the Home Ministry said.
The 60-hour siege of Mumbai began on 26 November 2008. Attacks on the railway station, luxury hotels and a Jewish cultural centre claimed 166 lives. Nine gunmen were also killed.
Qasab and an accomplice carried out the assault on the main railway station, killing 52 people.
He was convicted of murder and other crimes in May 2010. The Supreme Court upheld his death sentence in August.

Read an interesting bit in the paper on saturday about how unions in Ontario are forcing members to support the provincial liberals and help with campaigns and cotnribute funds, with threats of being shut out of work and/or removed from positions, if the members do not agree.
