The only possible Good Thing tm I can see coming from a Cons/DUP minority govt is that I don't think the DUP wants a hard Brexit due to the Irish border.

You are correct I believe. Even with that I am doubtful that the 'marriage' will last. If all other parties align then all it will take is one situation to topple May. She may not even be around to see it given the party revolt.

It's always breast to celebrate with friends!

A 'missed' high 5 from Corbyn to Thornberry - he gave her quite the whack!

With the U.K. Election behind us for now., France is next. Macron has a chance to really solidify his base.

French election: Can Macron's new party win majority he needs?

    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe...alflow_twitter

He swept aside all his political rivals to claim the presidency in May, but President Emmanuel Macron has done only half the job.

Never elected before, he leads a party with no MPs and seeks a similar upheaval in France's National Assembly to push through the changes he promises.

French voters return to the polls in a two-stage parliamentary election on 11 and 18 June.

    So can he do it?

The polls say he can. They consistently give Mr Macron's La République en Marche (LREM) a clear lead over his rivals.

UK leader May seen fighting for survival after election failure

    http://mobile.reuters.com/article/id..._medium=Social

By William James and Kylie MacLellan | LONDON

British Prime Minister Theresa May faces a slew of criticism after a failed election campaign left her short of a parliamentary majority and fighting for survival as the clock ticks down to the start of Brexit talks.

May's gamble that she could capitalize on Britons' desire to quit the European Union and perceived weakness in the opposition Labour Party backfired on Thursday as voters stripped her of her parliamentary majority.

The surprising outcome, which sent the pound tumbling, forced May to form a minority government, leaving her reliant on a small group of Northern Irish parliamentarians, just nine days before Britain is due to begin negotiating a deal to leave the EU.

It didn't take long for Alexi Navalny to be" detained" in Russia as a result of the protests against the gov't...shouldn't be long now before we hear that he died of a massive stroke. Or heart attack. Putin likely hasn't decided which one, yet.

    ^ Totally agree, Lynn.

They're arresting people with Russian flags on Russia Day, of course... (but the chant is "Putin's a thief")

Protests in over 200 cities today.

But what's running on Russian tv? Putin handing out some sort of awards.

I was elated at first upon hearing that the young student who was sentenced to 15 years of hard labour in North Korea was on his way home to the USA......then the rest of the story unfolded. He is in a coma and HAS BEEN since march of 2016!! I was sickened.

Oh, Lord, yes, @walkonby ....my first thought was that he was beaten up so brutally that he fell into a coma! It's going to be interesting if the US doctors find anything to substantiate that. But it's been so long...I doubt it. Poor kid.

Here's the take-away: DON'T venture into NK for ANY reason whatsoever!! They don't have to have a reason at ALL to detain anyone and use them as pawns!!! Just stay away!!!

Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny was found guilty late Monday of calling repeatedly for unlawful protests and sentenced to 30 days of detention.

Navalny, in court in Moscow, accused the judge of helping the police write the justification for his arrest and showed defiance by praising the protesters as "brave, wonderful people."

"I am very pleased that people came out, I am proud that I am a part of this movement in which brave, wonderful people, are not afraid to go out on the streets. Even under the threat of some detentions and so on," he said.
